Veterans United Home Loans is a proud sponsor of FAS Lane Racing, a team from NASCAR crew chief and owner Frank Stoddard.

The car, No. 32, is a Ford Fusion from Richard Petty Motorsports and Roush-Fenway Racing.

The body of the car features an eye-catching design that declares the Veterans United company values: Enhance Lives, Deliver Results and Be Passionate.

Veterans United is proud to back such a prolific team. Stoddard launched FAS Lane Racing in February 2011 after spending an impressive five years on the track, during which he racked up 14 wins and 64 top-five finishes as crew chief for NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Jeff Burton, Scott Wimmer and Ward Burton.

Tony's Story


With any big decision come questions, doubts, and curiosity. But let us clear all of that away for you! This is the story of Tony Dias, a branch manager in Waipio, Hawaii.

In 2010, Tony was working with another mortgage company with which he felt "happy and comfortable." He closed $49 million in total loan volume that year.

But in early 2011, a Veterans United Home Loans representative contacted Tony and Tony began wondering whether he could improve his business by switching partners. Like many, he wondered "how much better Veterans United could really be."

Tony decided to take the leap and switch to Veterans United Home Loans. Now, Tony can't imagine why he ever hesitated. Tony and his six employees joined Veterans United in August 2011. Just in the 4th quarter of 2011, he closed $34 million in home loans. That's 70% of his entire 2010 volume in only three months! That's also more than the $28 million he closed in the first seven months of 2011 before joining Veterans United.

Numbers don't lie. Tony made one simple decision and just a few short months later was already seeing a dramatic improvement in his loan volume and therefore his income.

Aside from loan volume, Tony's office was growing in every other way as well. He joined Veterans United with only six employees. After only five months with Veterans United, he had 18 employees working for him. That in turn meant he needed a bigger office. His office space went from 1800 square feet to the now 13,000 square feet.

Eligible Military Service Members and Veterans:
In general, eligiblity includes 181 days of peacetime service, 90 days war time service or 6 years in the reserve or National Guard. Some surviving spouses of veterans who died while in service or from a service-connected disability may also be eligible.

Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI):
On most mortgages, borrowers who can't put down 20 percent of the loan amount are required to pay private mortgage insurance. It protects lenders against borrowers who default and also helps borrowers who can't muster a large down payment. There is no PMI on a VA loan.

Department of Veterans Affairs:
A branch of the federal government that administers a variety of services for veterans, including the VA Loan benefit.

Guaranty:
With VA Loans, the federal government backs each mortgage with a promise to repay the loan amount should a borrower fail to pay.

VA Jumbo Loan:
A loan that's larger than the limit allowed in a specific region. Jumbo loans are rather complicated; contact us to learn more.

Funding Fee:
A mandatory fee paid to the VA assigned to all VA Loans. The funding fee amount can be financed, meaning the cost won't come out of your pocket at closing. Borrowers with a service-connected disability are exempt from paying the fee.

Closing Costs:
Closing costs are the charges and fees associated with processing and finalizing a loan. With the VA Loan, there are predefined closing cost limits: a 1 percent lender origination fee, reasonable discount points and other reasonable and standard fees and charges.

Zero Money Down:
When no down payment is required. The VA Loan is one of the only remaining loans that doesn't require any money up front for a down payment.
