Community

Around our offices, every phone call we take, every decision we make and every loan we close is rooted in our core company values.

However, these values extend beyond our offices. The Veterans United Home Loans team is passionate about ensuring a strong local and military community through involvement in numerous organizations and events.

Veterans United Foundation

Veterans United Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Veterans United Home Loans to support a variety of causes — including military, veteran and community organizations. The foundation conducts an annual campaign in the fourth quarter of every year. Veterans United employees are encouraged to donate one percent of their salaries to the foundation, which the company matches dollar for dollar. The funds are then distributed to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations and other worthy causes.

Enhance Lives Every Day

At Veterans United Home Loans, what we do best is putting veterans into new homes every day — but we do that in other ways besides closing loans.

We work closely with the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans to help end the growing challenge of homelessness among veterans. In 2008 we were honored to receive this organization's Corporate Partner of the Year award.

Our employees are also actively involved with the Show Me Central Habitat For Humanity. In 2010, we created the yearly Veteran Build initiative and, with the help of our dedicated employees, constructed a brand new home for an Army veteran.

Deliver Results with Integrity

While working with service members, Veterans United Home Loans makes sure to deliver results that these valuable citizens have earned and deserve.

Our employees are passionate about serving members of the Armed Forces, are experts in the VA Loan industry and come to work every day excited and honored to serve clients.

What once was a small company with a single loan officer has grown into a premier team of more than 700 employees nationwide, including many veterans. This team delivers more VA Loans than any other VA-focused lender because it's earned the trust of thousands of families through excellent service, expert guidance and honest, up-front business practices.

Our employees also love giving back and delivering big results for worthy causes such as donating $30,000 to Homes For Our Troops, an organization with programs to help the direct needs of injured soldiers; $15,000 to Fisher House, which provides veterans' families a comfortable place to stay while their loved one is hospitalized; and $20,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization with programs to help the direct needs of injured soldiers.

Be Passionate and Have Fun

Veterans United Home Loans employees are passionate about their work helping military families realize the dream of homeownership, but they do so much more.

Our dedicated team members are passionate about volunteering and supporting organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri and numerous charity races. In 2010 alone, Veterans United Home Loans and its employees donated more than $550,000 to military organizations and charitable causes across the country, including the largest single donation from a private company in the history of the Heart of Missouri United Way.

The Veterans United Home Loans team is also living proof that raising money and volunteering is both rewarding and fun. Our employee-run poker tournament that raised over $60,000 for the Dream Factory, an organization that helps makes the dreams of chronically ill children come true, was a memorable and successful fundraiser.

Scholarships

Veterans United Home Loans, in conjunction with our Military Education Scholarship Program, proudly awards ten $1,000 scholarships to eligible students with military connections.

Those eligible include:

• Sons and daughters of active duty military members and veterans
• Current and prospective ROTC students
• Honorably discharged veterans
• Active Duty Military personnel who are planning to attend college
• Spouses of veterans or active duty military members

Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI):
On most mortgages, borrowers who can't put down 20 percent of the loan amount are required to pay private mortgage insurance. It protects lenders against borrowers who default and also helps borrowers who can't muster a large down payment. There is no PMI on a VA loan.
