Intern - Marketing

Location: Columbia, MO, United States

Veterans United is seeking a social media intern to work with our award-winning marketing team. This position will report directly to our Social Media Manager to help produce unique, compelling social content to increase brand transparency, showcase our mission and educate veterans and military families about VA Loans and homebuying. This position will not be in originating loans.


Responsibilities:

  • Execute on creative strategy determined by the social media manager.
  • Assist in conceptualizing and executing compelling social media content.
  • Communicate with VUHL customers and aid in collection and organization of user-generated content.
  • Monitor peer and competitor social hubs for ideas and inspiration.
  • Stay abreast of social media trends and best practices.
  • Archive social media content for compliance purposes.


Creative cover letter:
 And by cover letter, we mean not really a letter at all. We would like for you to be creative and submit not a letter, but a form of marketing that you are interested in and include what would be in a cover letter. This could range from a video to a Pinterest board, Twitter campaign or an Instagram account describing yourself and why you would be a great fit for the program. You are not limited to these suggestions, so think outside of the box and let your imagination fly! 

Your cover letter should be uploaded when applying. If your cover letter is a link to a website/social media account, YouTube video, etc. please copy and paste the link into a word document or PDF so that you may submit it in the cover letter upload section on your application.

Necessary skills:

  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of social media strategy.
  • Adaptable to shifts in social media best practices.
  • Highly motivated and committed to creating exceptional content.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative creative environment.


Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • Initiative to work on your own and under supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience with social media for marketing and business needs a plus but not required.
