Jason Didicher spent his entire childhood in the foster care system. Serving in the Navy gave him purpose, made him feel accepted, and provided a family that he could count on.
Unfortunately, transitioning from military service to civilian life wasn’t easy for Jason.
“I never imagined I’d suffer from PTSD and end up broken and homeless,” Jason said. “But when I left the service, I had a big fall from grace. I was a highly decorated E5 in my 30s and homeless. I was so ashamed.”
Homeownership seemed particularly out of reach. But with the help of Veterans United’s Lighthouse Program, Jason was able to improve his credit score and get on track to purchase a home for his family.
“I was treated with tremendous compassion,” Jason said. “Veterans United was like having a good friend with you the entire process.”
