Veterans United Home Loans recognized as a 2014 Military Friendly Employer

November 20, 2013

Company noted for exemplary practices in recruitment and retention of former and current service memebers as civilian employees

COLUMBIA, Mo. Veterans United Home Loans was recognized as a 2014 Military Friendly Employer by the publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines. Criteria for the recognition included a benchmark score across key programs and policies such as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service. The 2014 Military Friendly Employers represent the preeminent tier of companies with strong military recruitment and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment, said Sean Collins, vice president of Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines and nine-year Navy veteran. Veterans United Home Loans is a company that is actually moving the needle and hiring from the military community. Not only is it hiring veterans, but it is consistently finding new and meaningful ways to show its veteran employees how much they are valued. Veterans United competed for the recognition with more than 5,000 companies. The company found that hiring from the military community was a strategic competitive advantage. It's a privilege to work at a company that takes pride in helping veterans and their families secure home ownership, said Amanda Andrade, chief people officer at Veterans United. Having veteran employees who share with our customers the experience of military service provides unique insight to help us deliver on our commitment. One of the many reasons we hire veterans and military spouses is that we believe their employment strengthens our company. They have a strong work ethic, sense of duty and commitment to teamwork that can translate very well into any organization. Now in its 11th year, Military Friendly Employers is the premier resource for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment. Using the data engine on MilitaryFriendly.com, job seekers are able to view prospective employer profiles, as well as design their own custom lists according to their preferences. Veterans United will be showcased as a 2014 Military Friendly Employer in the December edition of G.I. Jobs magazine and online at MilitaryFriendly.com.
