Certificate of Eligibility

Through dedicated service to our country, military service members and veterans qualify for a wide range of benefits. One of the largest benefits veterans may take advantage of is the VA Loan Program.
Obtaining Your Certificate of Eligibility
As part of the VA Loan process, prospective borrowers will have to prove they're eligible to participate in the program. The only true way to do that is through the Certificate of Eligibility (COE), a formal document that explains what VA entitlement, if any, you possess.
The certificate can be obtained by filling out Certificate of Eligibility Request Form (VA Form 261880). The form can be downloaded through the Veterans Administrations site and then mailed in. However, the approval process can take a few weeks. You can also utilize the VA's eBenefits portal.
Fortunately, VA-approved lenders like Veterans United Home Loans can submit your COE requests through the department's Automated Certificate of Eligibility system. A Veterans United Loan specialist in most cases can obtain your COE in matter of minutes.
Start Today
It's important to remember that you don't need your Certificate of Eligibility to start the loan process. Veterans United customers can get prequalified and on the path to loan approval in minutes.

VA Loan Eligibility
Borrowers can qualify for the VA Loan Guaranty Program if they have served 90 days during wartime, 181 days during peacetime or have six years of service in the National Guard or Reserves. Veterans also must have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions. Surviving spouses of veterans who died in the line of duty or from a service-connected disability are also eligible to apply.
