Injured Iraq War Veteran Finds Peace at Home

Marine Corps veteran John Krause served two tours during Operation Iraqi Freedom, but a tragic accident forced him to fight for his life. Doctors said he had just a 5 percent chance of survival.

John spent six weeks in a coma. He fought his way back with the help of his family and doctors. But months and months of rigorous rehabilitation followed.

Suffering from traumatic brain injury, John had to relearn how to walk, read and write. His mother, Caroline, quit her job to become a full-time caregiver.

The family brought in a physical therapist, tutors and technicians to help John get his cognitive abilities back on track. In time, John regained a foothold and started making plans for a home of his own.

Veterans United loan specialists Eric Barroso, NMLS #801062 and Ryan Bray, NMLS #42982, helped John improve his financial portfolio and get on the path to landing a VA home loan.
