Sean, ShaNiece, and Drew, were absolutely outstanding throughout our home buying process. They were all very patient and considerate with staying in contact with me when it came to the process while I was at work. They understood what I was looking for and what I was trying to do, and even steered me in the right direction if I was going off track. There is not enough words to explain how great and personable this team was throughout this process. If I had the ability to buy them a beer, meal, or whatever, I would take that opportunity in a heartbeat. Thank you guys so very much for what you do.
We really enjoyed working with Kyle. He was professional and helpful throughout our home-buying process. He was very responsive to questions and was willing to work with us despite only having one line of active credit. We really appreciated the time and effort he put into helping us, as well as his willingness to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. Kyle was a bright spot throughout the process, and we would gladly work with him again. For the most part, things went very smoothly until we began experiencing some confusion and delays. It seemed there were communication issues between departments, and we became frustrated by the last-minute nature of several notifications. There were multiple occasions when we were not informed about missing documentation or other issues until they had become urgent, leaving us scrambling to resolve them.We were disappointed that our closing date had to be pushed back due to the appraisal not being completed on time, as well as delays in the sellers completing required repairs. While these issues were not entirely caused by Veterans United, I believe more proactive follow-up with the appraiser as the closing date approached could have helped prevent some of the delay. During one phone call, a team member told me that the appraisal delays were not Veterans United's fault and stated that Kyle "didn't know what he was talking about" because she had been with the company longer. Regardless of the circumstances, I found it unprofessional to hear one employee criticize another to a customer. It made communication even more confusing because I wasn't sure whose information I should rely on.I also think the process surrounding the Alive and Well Statement should be reviewed. I was not informed that this would be required until the day my husband arrived at WOCS and was no longer able to communicate with me, despite having informed multiple members of the team well in advance that he would become unavailable. Had we known earlier, he could have made arrangements to provide the statement before reporting. Instead, I had to contact the emergency point of contact for the course to have it arranged, which was particularly frustrating. We were also advised to open a new line of credit to help lower our interest rate because one of us did not have an active credit account. However, shortly before closing—after we had already opened the account—we were informed that if the resulting credit score did not meet a certain threshold, the loan would not be approved. Had we been made aware of that requirement from the beginning, we likely would have chosen not to open the new credit line.I was also confused when I was told we were clear to close before all of the required repairs had been completed. This created uncertainty about whether all of the loan requirements had actually been satisfied and reduced my confidence in the process.Despite these challenges, I am grateful that the team continued working to get us into our new home. I appreciate Kyle's professionalism and the effort everyone put forth to help us reach the finish line.
