What can I say—Veterans United made the entire mortgage process incredibly easy and completely stress-free. Something that’s usually overwhelming and full of uncertainty turned out to be straightforward and manageable thanks to their guidance. Not only did they set realistic expectations, but they also clearly explained what to expect at each stage. My entire team was responsive, accessible, and always willing to help—whether by email, phone, or text. I never felt ignored or left in the dark. Each member of the team personally introduced themselves, explained their role, and made it clear how they could support us. From pre-approval all the way to closing, the experience was smooth and professional. I couldn’t be more grateful for how well we were taken care of throughout the entire process.

The whole buying experience was not smooth and very stressful. Just one issue after another only to be robbed with excess fees !!!Even after the loan I cannot get a hold of anyone to address the insurance money you withheld from me against my objections !!! Now my insurance has dropped me because you failed to pay them.Your stupid AI system is the worst customer experience I have ever encountered & cannot get anything done with or get to the right people to help you !!!Why would any honorable person recommend your company after this fiasco !!!

Response from Veterans United

Hey Timothy,

I'm really sorry to hear how rough this experience has been for you. Buying a home should feel like a moment to celebrate—not a constant string of stress and frustration. It’s especially concerning to hear about the insurance issues and how hard it’s been to get in touch with someone who can actually help. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have.

I want to make sure your concerns are heard and looked into properly. Our Client Advocate team is here to help track down what happened and make sure you’re connected with the right folks to get answers. You can reach us directly at 1-800-212-5200 or by emailing ClientAdvocate@vu.com.

We’re in the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, but if you reach out outside those hours, we’ll do our best to respond as soon as we’re back in.

The loan officer that worked for our buyer did not get proper paperwork in time for us to close on original closing date. Usually this would be ok, but they did not let us know until 3:00pm on the day before closing that was scheduled at 9am. Our movers had already loaded our things and we had to get an air bnb for the weekend along with paying hold fees for our household goods. This was a huge ball dropped from a seller stand point and I hope it never happens to any other customers.

Response from Veterans United

Hey Robert,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience—and I’m so sorry this happened. You were in a tough spot with your closing dependent on the sale of your previous home, and hearing about the delay so close to the finish line must have been incredibly frustrating. I don’t blame you for being upset—no one wants to scramble for backup plans the night before closing.

It sounds like the holdup came from the buyer's side, and while we weren’t working with you directly on that loan, we absolutely take responsibility for the role we played in how this all played out. We know how tightly connected these timelines can be, and when something gets off track, it can cause a ripple effect like this one. I'm sorry we didn’t provide better communication in advance so you could prepare.

We’re taking your feedback seriously and will be reviewing what happened here so we can learn from it. If you’d be open to a conversation, our Client Advocate team would really like to hear more. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, and always happy to talk.

We purchased our first home and could not have done it without Veterans United! The entire team, especially Kevin Reichert, the process was painless and gave us our dream to put down roots as a military family.

Tommy P. will never forget his experience working with me ("The Crazy woman in Alabama!") I jokingly told him, that, once we finally found a home, he would miss me, not calling 3-5 times daily!

I was honestly worried about buying a home for the second time. I have a busy schedule and don't have access to my phone during work. The team I worked with during this process made it stress-free and simple on my end. Everyone involved went above and beyond of what I expected. It was a real joy working with Veterans United.
