This entire experience was super easy. Veterans United made my home buying experience flow seamlessly. I am more that thankful for all parties evolved.
Just want to thank the entire team assigned to help me during this process. We managed to go from viewing homes, to making an offer, to closing day, without any delays. I am extremely grateful!
It was a lack of communication could be from COVID did not explain things fully like other fees tacked on to our mortgage. Our documents for closing the house were not explained how they would be arriving whether through mail or email we were told they would be coming from the Veterans United Home Loans team via mail and we were waiting a whole day for the documents to arrive in the mail which almost cost us our closing day and we had to pay seventy dollars to get the documents shipped overnight. As a first time home buyer it wasn't the worst experience but receiving communication from the team at Veterans United was highly lacking. All in all if you are working with Veterans United ask for clarification on each step of the process so your not caught off-guard.

The team we had was exceptional! They are very personable, helpful, quick, professional, and thorough. They were available to us 24/7, which really surprised us. Our Loan Specialist would call us right back if we sent a message. It didn’t matter the day or time. He was so great! We had a great experience.
Josh Shaw was phenomenal! I would work with him in a second. I was not impressed with the underwriting process. It took much longer than I anticipated. I thought it could have been more organized with improved communication.
Response from Veterans United
Eleanor, we are happy that your loan officer did a great job. We like to promote our teams with surveys such as these. We understand that the underwriting process can be very stressful at times. The process is set up to provide our clients with the best options and products as possible. Please feel free to reach out to our client advocate team if you wish to share more. Thank you again for your service.
I can't possibly put into words how great it has been working with Veterans United. My wife and I were first-time home buyers and didn't know what we didn't know. Veterans United provide me with a team of experts who were extremely professional, courteous, and answered all of our questions before we even knew to ask them. Buying a home is a monumental and frightening undertaking, but I can't imagine the experience being any easier or more satisfying than my team at Veterans United provided for myself and my family. We are beyond happy with our new home and our team at Veterans United has our deepest appreciation for helping make that dream a reality. Thank you!
This was my fourth go around with Veterns United and will use them for the next house we buy. It is a very easy process with them from cradle to grave to get in you house and close. One of our houses took around 14 to 17 days to close that was amazing.
BUYER BEWARE - We were left extremely disappointed by our home buying experience with Veterans United, which was even more disheartening considering how many great reviews we read from other buyers. Our loan officer was inattentive, did not respond to emails or phone calls for WEEKS at a time, missed sending out critical paperwork, and when we as buyers, our real estate agent, and the closing title company brought this to Veterans United's attention time and time again, we were told the problem would be fixed and it was not. Our loan officer wasted our time for weeks on end asking for us to give a justification for why we were moving to another state, saying that without a good enough reason, the underwriters might not approve our loan. Given that we were free to work from wherever we choose and are not tied to a specific local office or region, borrowed less than we were ultimately approved for, had outstanding credit and more than enough income to make our payments, this was extremely upsetting to have our time wasted over and over again when it not only has no impact on our ability to repay our loan and we were well within our means, but also that it is nobody's business where we are moving or why as long as we make our payments in a timely manner. Nobody I asked had EVER heard of such a ridiculous request, much less that being made a stipulation for whether or not our loan would be approved. Yet this was what our loan officer wasted our time with for weeks on end, but could not be bothered to deliver paperwork in a timely manner, answer his phone or email during time-sensitive moments in the buying process or to meet deadlines, and blatantly ignore paperwork that we needed him to review for accuracy before getting signatures and then blame us for reasons he made up. He took no responsibility for his actions and this is completely unacceptable. What should have been a relatively painless process was made difficult, frustrating, and left us with a bad taste, which is a shame considering we have several military and veteran friends who are in the beginning stages of the home buying business. I wish I could tell them that we had a good experience, but I have never been so confused, irritated, or talked down to in my life. This process seems to be heavily dependent on your loan officer, so all I can say is if you get the same one we had, withdraw your application and look elsewhere for financing unless you enjoy months of headaches, not sleeping, and stress-induced chest pain.
