⭐ 1 Star — By Far the Worst Mortgage Experience I’ve HadI have worked with multiple mortgage lenders over the years, and unfortunately, Veterans United was by far the worst home loan experience I have ever had.The biggest problems throughout the entire process were communication, coordination, document review, and accountability. Everything seemed to be handled at the last possible minute. Documents and information would be submitted well in advance, only for someone to come back later—sometimes weeks afterward—with additional requests or corrections that should have been identified during the initial review.The constant lack of coordination between the loan team and underwriting made the process unnecessarily stressful. Instead of proactively reviewing information and identifying potential issues early, it felt like everything was reactive and pushed onto us at the last minute.What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of accountability. Mistakes were repeatedly discovered late in the process, but there was little ownership from the people responsible for reviewing and coordinating the loan. At a certain point, it becomes difficult to accept hearing explanations when the same problems continue happening over and over again.Even the closing documents were not handled correctly. A name was misspelled on the mortgage documents, resulting in us having to re-sign closing paperwork because of an error that should never have made it through the document preparation and review process.This was not a small or insignificant transaction, yet the level of attention to detail and customer service felt incredibly careless. We were making one of the largest financial purchases of our lives, and the process often felt rushed, half-finished, and handled with far less professionalism than the situation deserved.I understand that mortgages can be complicated and that unexpected issues can arise. That is not my complaint. My complaint is the repeated pattern of poor communication, inadequate review, last-minute requests, preventable mistakes, and a lack of accountability when those mistakes occurred.Veterans and military families have plenty of options when it comes to VA home loans and mortgage lenders. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering Veterans United to carefully explore those alternatives.Buying a home is already stressful enough. Your lender should make the process more organized and manageable—not create additional problems because basic communication, coordination, and review are repeatedly handled at the last minute.I would not recommend Veterans United based on my experience.
