The company overall did a great job

Really depends on the appraisal, and who performs it. The first one we got delayed closing byb3 weeks.
Response from Veterans United
Hey Michael,
I hear your frustration, and I’m sorry the appraisal process set things back for you. Delays like that—especially so close to closing—can throw everything into chaos and cause a lot of unnecessary stress.
You're right that appraisals can vary depending on who performs them, and unfortunately, we don't get to choose the individual appraiser. Still, I know that doesn’t make it any less frustrating when a delay ends up impacting your timeline.
If there’s anything still unresolved or if you'd like to talk more about how things went, I’d really like to listen. You can reach me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to reach out anytime that works for you.

If you’re looking for a team that goes above and beyond, look no further than Veterans United Home Loans. From start to finish, this entire team had my back like a well-oiled machine. Every time I had a question or needed something done, they didn’t just meet my expectations, they crushed them. They kept me in the loop at all times, making sure I was never left wondering what was going on. I swear they must have had a direct line to my thoughts because they always stayed one step ahead!Huge shoutout to the entire team, seriously, these guys didn’t miss a beat. They made the home-buying process feel like a breeze, which is saying a lot considering how stressful it can be. I don’t know if they run on coffee or pure determination, but whatever it is, it works! I’d ask for something, and boom, it was already done. They didn’t just do their job, they did it with care, efficiency, and a level of dedication that’s hard to find these days. But I have to take a moment to talk about Jordan Powell, my loan officer. If you’re lucky enough to get him, consider yourself blessed. This guy is a rockstar! Jordan was always ten steps ahead, making sure I had zero worries and that everything was handled perfectly. He got things done faster than I could blink, and he always had my best interest in mind. I’m pretty sure if there was an Olympic event for loan officers, Jordan would bring home the gold.To anyone out there thinking about going with Veterans United, DO IT. I can’t recommend them enough. They took care of me like family, and I know they’ll do the same for you. If you’re lucky enough to get Jordan Powell, just know you’re in the best hands possible. This team doesn’t just get the job done, they set the gold standard.10/10, highly recommend, and I’d do it all over again without hesitation. Thanks again to Veterans United and the dream team that made it all happen!

Closing was cancelled with no prior notice. We found out that closing was cancelled from our realtor and notary halfway through our trip from New Mexico to Missouri because our loan coordinator went on vacation and didn't finish processing the information we sent a head of time. Then an extension had to be filed costing us more money for VU dropping the ball. On top of that, the staff was almost insulting from their lack of knowledge on how transferring teaching license works and put my wife in hot water at the new job she was getting from VU employees harassing them on if my wife was actually getting the job or if she was even qualified for it ( My wife has her Masters and getting her PhD for teaching I might add) even after sending the required intent to hire letter. Deena was impossible to ever get ahold of, and Nathan was far more accessible than she was. The cherry on top was then the team we worked with was working harder to push all the blame on us instead of owning up to their mistake. A simple example being a very early document from VU had the address wrong on one of the initial documents from VU but it's still our fault....
Response from Veterans United
Hey Nicholas,
This one hits hard, and I want to start by saying how sorry I am that your experience with us added stress to what should’ve been an exciting move. You deserved better.
Hearing that you learned your closing was cancelled midway through a cross-country trip—through your realtor and notary no less—is incredibly frustrating. That’s not how this process should go, and I can’t imagine how that disruption and confusion felt in the moment. Adding extra costs to the mix only makes it more frustrating, and I hear you loud and clear: this delay wasn’t on you.
What you described around your wife’s employment documentation is especially upsetting. I’m really sorry our team’s actions made her feel scrutinized or doubted, especially when she went above and beyond in providing what was asked. That should have been the end of the conversation. I understand how this added unnecessary pressure at a time when she was stepping into a new role—and doing so with credentials that speak for themselves.
It also sounds like you had to chase answers when you should’ve been getting clear and timely updates. You should have had someone in your corner, advocating for you, not making you feel blamed or brushed off.
I’d really like my advocates to have the chance to look deeper into everything that happened. If you or your wife are open to it, please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. I want to make sure your feedback gets in front of the right people here.

Ginny and her team were phenomenal. Always a step ahead of what needs to be done. The VU app was easy to use and made things seamless. Definitely recommend VU to any Veteran looking to use their benefits!!

Kim and Alyssa were amazing to work with. I would recommend them every time. Thank you for all of your help!

Amazing experience!!!

I think VU needs to do a better job at sifting through good and reliable realtors. My experience with my realtor was very stressful to say the least especially as a first time homebuyer / homeowner. Other than that my experience with members of veterans united was very good.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Tyler,
Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. I’m really glad to hear that most of your experience with the Veterans United team was a positive one—but I’m sorry to hear things felt stressful on the real estate side, especially during such a huge milestone like buying your first home.
The homebuying process can be overwhelming even under the best circumstances, and we count on our network of agents to help make it smoother, not harder. I’d really like to learn more about what happened with your realtor so we can take a closer look. Feedback like yours helps us be more intentional about who we partner with and how we support buyers going forward.
If you’re open to chatting more, you can reach my advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but please reach out anytime that works for you.

We have worked with Tyler on two loans now, and this is what we have to say concerning our experiences:Tyler Oakley is hands down the best in the business. There aren’t many people who will go the extra mile and treat you like family, but we can definitely say that Tyler did.We also appreciated the excellent communication. He took the time to call and update, was upfront and honest, and made no promises he couldn’t keep.He was also calm during a crazy selling/buying process, positively impacting the whole process.Overall, he is a great loan officer, an even better person, and a great leader of his team. Veterans United is lucky to have him. Thanks Tyler!

The whole team at VU was great to work with throughout the entire home purchase process. Job well done.

Professional and extremely knowledgeable. Explained the entire process in detail. Highly recommend Nick and his team!

The team was very helpful during the process. And cared about the customer. With Veterans United your not just a number your a customer the team cares about. Would highly recommend Veterans United to other Veterans as they are there to help you through the whole loan process. And are there to answer any question you have.

This is now the second time I have used VU and both times, VU has made the process as stress free as possible!
