Veterans United Home Loans listed as one Fortune's 50 Best Workplaces for Giving Back

February 13, 2018

COLUMBIA, Mo. For the third year in a row, Veterans United Home Loans was recognized as one of 50 Best Workplaces for Giving Back by Great Place to Work® and Fortune. With 97 percent of its employees reporting a great workplace due to factors like great bosses, communication and rewards, Veterans United Home Loans ranked 23 on this year's list.

Fortune and Great Place to Work® partnered to sort through more than 380,000 employee responses to an anonymous Trust Index® survey and questionnaire answers that provided more information about the positive impact their company has on the community.

The Veterans United Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company, took its Week of Giving campaign on the road in 2017, donating $1.35 million to 135 different charitable organizations throughout the country. Employees at Veterans United branch locations around the United States chose different organizations in their communities to receive $10,000 each on behalf of the Veterans United Foundation.

The Veterans United Foundation is fueled by an unwavering commitment to give and enhance the lives of Veterans, our employees and the communities we call home, said Greg Steinhoff, executive director of Veterans United Foundation. Our employees generosity has helped the foundation raise more than $40 million since its inception in 2011 and continues to enhance the lives of Veterans and different communities every day.

Additional factors like paid time off for volunteering, employee fund-matching and amount of money donated were also taken into consideration when deciding what companies made the final list. Employee feedback for each organization influenced the final rankings of the list as well.

In turbulent times, the Best Workplaces for Giving Back are stepping up to lead, said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. Organizations like Veterans United Home Loans provide important hands-on leadership and material support to help communities thrive.

The Best Workplaces for Giving Back is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified organizations.
