Nick made me feel so safe going through this process. I have trust issues and I can be pretty pessimistic about things, but Nick was wonderful in explaining everything to me, giving me updates on the process at every stage. He really listened to my concerns and focused on allaying them. He was also very proactive preemptive, bringing up questions that I had but hadn’t been able to formulate and verbalize yet. He was kind and approachable without being the overly enthusiastic, over bearing “salesman” type. I could let my guard down.
We had the best first home buying experience with Holly. She was very knowledgeable and attentive to every question we had. Holly went above and beyond. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Veterans United is unparalleled for home buying. I don't think other companies that say that are VA-backed can do what the people at VU can do. The process was well-detailed. The team I had went above and beyond to help me get my first home and become a homeowner.

My experience with Veteran's United started out great, however, by the time that I reached closing I was within a hair's breadth of walking away to find another lender. The communication with Britany went downhill and it started when I was trying to submit the FSBO contract. I accidentally had sent it to a family member instead of Britany, of which the mistake was not caught until a few days later, however, it could have been caught sooner if Britany had followed through on calling me when she was supposed to therefore this caused my interest rate to be pushed out an entire week because Britany had gone out of town. I had sent several emails requesting that Britany contact me for various things in regarding the loan, however, I never received a call from her directly. Rather I would receive a random call from the concierge or her 2nd; if that even happened. To wrap things up, there was no conversation to go over the closing paperwork. Documents would just be sent to me via the portal with zero explanation. One of these being for me to sign declining the Energy Efficiency funds. There was no communication with me as to why I had been declined and it was not until I actually got Britany on the phone and she did some digging that I actually could qualify for EEM, and just needed to send additional documents on what I was going to be having done. Even to this end, there was no follow-up on the amount that I would be approved for and I did not know what that was until I went to closing. As for the closing documents, the first time I had received them my middle name had been misspelled, to which I had caught the night prior and told the office. A corrected version was sent to me to be signed, however, this corrected version did not make it to the title agency which caused me to go back to have the paperwork re-signed. There was zero communication on my needing to go to closing with a check or cash to pay my end of the closing costs. Granted this partially falls on me for not having read the documents fully, however, the VU is not blameless as there typically is a conversation between the lender and their client to ensure there are no discrepancies prior to going to closing.Overall, I would not recommend Veteran's United which is sad as this is the lender that helped a family member with buying their home and they had the exact opposite experience. I would re-think the business model and remove the redundant positions. There does not need to be 3+ people reaching out for one loan. If there is a member out, then the loan officer should be reaching out, not another stranger.
Josie was very helpful at explaining everything throughout the process all the way until closing. She was always responsive and worked fast through really difficult and tight deadlines to make closing as fast as possible.
We were in dire straights, our home had mold and I am disabled from Iraq. We turned to an internet search and we found Veteran's United. We went from a hotel to air bnb, but the team was there with us throughout the wait. Their kind words kept me sane, and my mind at ease. They never said we can't or anything negative to us. Sometimes I thought they were Superheroes. The day of closing it seemed like no one knew what had to be done still or needed. Was asked to send invoices of things I personally did a couple of times. The issue was wood for drainage that needed to be cut. No one said anything I would of cut that wood if told. But it was part of the repairs outlined that was sent for the fix. Other than that it was a pleasant experience. Eric and Courtney did a great job.
This team was phenomenal, never once did I have a question go unanswered or a call that wasn’t responded to in a timely manner. Would recommend to any veteran
