Alex Herbel

Alex earned his Bachelor of Science in Business-Finance in 2008 from the University of Missouri, and has been working at Veterans United Home Loans for the last six years. When deciding what he wanted to do after college, Alex immediately thought about Veterans United. He is a veteran and knew this was his calling. Since 2008 he has helped over 400 veterans and their families purchase homes using their VA loan benefit. In his spare time, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and children, Elsie and Breck. They also enjoy visiting their family in the western Kansas area. He is a very big sports fan and hope the Missouri Tigers can win a National Championship in the near future.

Getting started was fine, from selection of house forward limited to no info for me. Being told 3 separate times id get a call back which never happened. Was repeatedly told would come on 29 knowing I hade to have everything out of my old house by 29th. 2pm on the 28th no sorry it will be the 30th, this after asking repeatedly on Thursday and Friday if we were for sure closing 29th. Told yes. Now out 2nd set of movers at 1600$ and 3 days in a hotel for a family all with disabilities which is another 1000$ storage shed for days to store our house in outside shed at 226. So no this was the worst move I've had. Jennifer and her staff were repeatedly helping making calls and trying to get any information from Alex to no avail

Response from Veterans United

Hey Nicholas,

I’m very sorry to hear how frustrated and disrespected you felt throughout your experience. Buying a home should never leave someone feeling pressured, dismissed, or unheard, and I can understand why this process damaged your trust. Your concerns about communication, professionalism, and how you were treated are serious, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them.

At Veterans United, we want every borrower to feel supported and respected throughout the process, and I’m sorry this experience did not reflect that. I would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about what happened and review your concerns further with the appropriate teams.

Please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, and messages outside those hours are typically returned the next business day.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
