My name is David Smart, and I’ve been proud to serve Veterans and their families at VU since 2021. Helping service members—like my father, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and my brother, a U.S. Marine—achieve the dream of homeownership is the most meaningful part of my work.
Although my upbringing took me across Illinois, Florida, California, and Arkansas, I now call O’Fallon, Missouri home. I’m a proud graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where I met my wife, Kristyn. We married in 2019 and shortly after we welcome our daughter, Palmer, to the world and recently we welcomed our son, Walker.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors—whether that’s landscaping, tackling yard projects, or relaxing by the grill with some good barbecue. I’m always up for exploring new bourbons, catching a game, or just enjoying time with my family.
