It was an absolute pleasure working with Jake. From our initial discussion, he has been very responsive, ensuring all our questions were answered. I never felt rushed or like I was just another number. That was very important to me. This is my third home purchase and it has by far been the easiest. I know that was because of my loan team.
I’m leaving this score because I felt consistently misled, blamed, and unsupported throughout the loan process. I was told there would be no closing costs, but when I brought that up later, I was told I must have misunderstood a VA funding fee waiver — which felt more like gaslighting than clarity. I was denied access to a lower home insurance rate unless I paid for a new inspection or hired a certified contractor — something I couldn’t afford. Jake told me Veterans United doesn’t offer insurance at all, yet there’s an entire section for it on their website. When I received wire instructions from the title company and sent the payment, Jake came back with different numbers that were higher. He told me I should never have sent money without his approval. When I followed up with the title company, they told me those numbers originally came from Veterans United. Then, the total closing costs increased by $1,400 due to moving the closing date from July 31st to August 1st — a change the title company said was made by Veterans United, and that the fee increase came directly from them. Throughout this process, I felt like they were rushing everything to get it closed faster, making repeated mistakes, and blaming me for the confusion. I was looking for support and clear communication — especially from someone working with veterans. What I got instead was pressure, shifting explanations, and zero accountability.
Wow Jake, My family and I are so very grateful to you and Gregory and team for the hard work you did to put my family in our Great Big New Home!
