Joshua J Schmidt

I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and a lifelong fan of Mizzou football and basketball. I proudly served in the U.S. Army for seven years, including two combat tours in Iraq while serving in the 82nd Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team 2/505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. My time in uniform was marked by leadership roles as a Team Leader and later as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of a squad under the 1/509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, where I was responsible for the welfare of soldiers and millions of dollars in equipment, while supporting over 30 Combat training rotations at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, LA.

After completing my military service, I transitioned into the insurance and operations space, driven by a passion for building teams and serving my community. I took on leadership roles across multiple organizations, scaling several successful insurance brokerages. Most recently, I served as Agency Operations Manager at InsurVisors, where I led recruitment, business development, and training initiatives while also championing client satisfaction and community engagement.

Since being home, I have remained committed to supporting fellow veterans, including serving as a Wounded Warrior Project alumnus and actively participating in my local Chamber of Commerce and city leadership boards.

More important than any professional title, I am a proud father of three amazing kids—Luna, Liam, and Bryson. When I am not helping Veterans achieve their dreams of homeownership, you will find me with my children, usually watching them play sports, fishing, camping, or catching a Mizzou game when possible.

We had a very laborious and stressful time working with your company. On many occasions throughout this process we had to provide information, followup and resend. Felicia G. did not give us confidence in her performance. Our closing date was moved from 3/3 to 3/11 and then to 3/20. One delay after another, then another due to miss management and requesting bank information that was not necessary. The lack of clarity and foresight almost caused us to loose our deposit. If it wasn't due to the constant follow-up on our end and my contacting the VA I DONT REALY THINK THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. fortunately the VA was kind enough to put a priority on our case so that we did not fail. Even up to the last minutes before signing there were still errors and running around. Joshua was very nice and professional. He provided us support and re assured us that this would be an easy process, but unfortunately it was not.....our realtor was even very frustrated with the lack of organization and having to repeatedly send the same information to Felicia G. An awful experience and would not recommend for anyone to go through that!!

Response from Veterans United

Hi Richard,
I’m really sorry to hear how stressful and drawn out this experience was for you. Repeated requests for the same information, lack of clear communication, and multiple closing delays can quickly turn what should be an exciting process into a frustrating one, and I understand how concerning it must have been with your deposit at risk.

You should have been able to rely on better organization, clearer guidance, and more proactive support throughout. I do appreciate you recognizing Joshua’s efforts, but it’s clear we fell short in delivering a consistent experience from start to finish.

I’d really like the opportunity to take a closer look at what happened and better understand where things broke down. If you’re open to it, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com so we can review your experience together.

Our team is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and we’ll follow up as soon as possible if you reach out outside those hours.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager

There were multiple ups and downs through out our loan process. The government shut down did not help. Im not sure if it was the loan team or the underwriting team, but our blood pressure stayed high. Im sure individually they were great, but there were multiple times that someone we needed to speak to was out of office and times where documents had been submitted multiple times and still requested. Also times where agents would only speak to Jacob even though I am a joint buyer.
