Issue #1) Problems (plumbing) were discovered during the initial inspection of the house. We asked that the plumbing be fixed before we buy the house. The home inspector told our realtor that the plumbing was fixed (corrected). The realtor didn’t do a follow up to confirm the problem was fixed. When we moved in, we discovered that the problem was not fixed. (It was still the same, no attempt to fix it) We are still trying to get the problem fixed but running into dead ends.
Issue #2) We were told that the standing grey water (2-3 inches deep) approximately 12-15 feet in diameter over the septic tank was normal. Come to find out that’s not true. Also, according to the next-door neighbors, the previous owners had a septic truck come out and do some work on the tank about 10-14 days before we moved in. This was not relayed to us or anyone else. Multiple people (neighbors, yard maintenance and handyman) have told us there is a problem with the septic tank. So no assistance with that currently.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Steve,
I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with these plumbing and septic concerns after moving into your home. I can understand how upsetting it would be to believe these issues had been addressed before closing, only to discover otherwise.
A VA appraisal is intended to assess the property’s value and condition based on what is readily observable, and it isn’t a substitute for a home inspection. While Veterans United doesn’t control the inspection or repairs, I’d like the opportunity to learn more about what happened and see how I can help point you in the right direction. Please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Always with the answer I needed, If I needed something they would help me with the problem.
I worked with Marie Houchen and Evan Weaver, and they were great—always professional and quick to reply. They stayed in touch with my realtor, who also spoke highly of them. The dashboard helped me keep track of everything and let me know right away when I needed to act or send paperwork. I signed all the documents online with DocuSign from my home computer. The only time we met anyone in person was to sign the closing papers at the title company, which took about 30 minutes. This is the fourth house I’ve bought in 25 years, and it’s never been this easy. VA United made one of the most stressful things you can do, besides boot camp, feel simple. I highly recommend VA United to any veterans looking to buy a home.
You guys were great and I've already recommended a friend to do business with you
