My first experience with VU was phenomenal. My second loan experience with them was a bit of a let down. They charged me fees on things that I don't think they should have. All of the small fees add up. When someone is buying a home, they need to save as much as possible. There are way too many unnecessary fees, perhaps VU could downsize its unnecessary personnel and programs, and that would allow it to cut out some of the fees.

Response from Veterans United

Hi Clint,

It means a lot to hear that your first experience with us was phenomenal, which makes it even more disappointing to learn that your second loan did not live up to that standard. I understand how frustrating it can feel when costs add up, especially when you’re trying to be as financially prepared as possible during a home purchase.

Concerns about fees are important. You should always feel clear about what you’re being charged for and why. While many costs in a mortgage transaction are standard or third-party related, that does not lessen the impact they have on you. If anything felt unnecessary or insufficiently explained, that’s something I would want to review.

I’d appreciate the opportunity to take a closer look at your loan details and walk through your concerns with you directly. When you’re ready, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and we’ll respond the next business day if you contact us after hours.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager

Jon and his team were truly outstanding from the beginning to the end. I appreciated the quick and accurate responses to all my questions. When I didn’t understand something, they explained the answers so I could understand. I have purchased several homes, but the service I received from Veterans United is above and beyond all others.
