I grew up in the Chicago area, graduated college at the University of Iowa, lived in Monterey, CA for some time and then settled in Columbia, MO with my beautiful wife and 3 kids. I love spending time with my family and friends, following Univ. of Iowa and Chicago area sports, live music and working in my wood shop. My position at Veterans United Home Loans allows me to work with our nation's true heroes, our Veterans and Military Service members. My own family has a long history of military service from my father's 30 years in the Air National Guard, my great-uncle's tour in Korea to my mother tracing our family lineage of service in the Civil War and at least 3 members in the Revolutionary War. I am grateful to be working for a company that is dedicated to serving our Veterans and Military Service members in making one of the most important and special purchases of their lives. I pride myself on being able to bring my years of customer service experience to the VA Home Loan process. Thank you for the opportunity and honor to serve you.

My team with Veterans United was amazing! They made my process extremely easy with difficulty or stress nowhere in site!
I will never use veterans united again. Any issues we ran into during the appraisal (which is really an inspection because they make stipulations about what you have to have in the house, not just what the house is worth), we were never offered solutions or other options we may have. The entire time it just felt like they didn’t actually care about our loan or closing on the house. We were initially set to close 6 weeks from the time we made an offer. We didn’t close for another almost 8 weeks after the first 6 weeks with very little communication from them during that extension. We felt like an inconvenience to them. We will not ever go through VU or recommend them to anyone again.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Maggie,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I'm truly sorry to hear you left the process feeling unsupported and that communication during your closing timeline didn't meet your expectations. I understand how discouraging that must have been, especially after such a significant delay.
I also understand your concerns about the VA appraisal. While the VA appraisal helps determine the home's value and confirms it meets the VA's Minimum Property Requirements, I recognize that the required repairs can sometimes feel unexpected and frustrating. I'm sorry you didn't feel you were given enough guidance or options along the way.
I'd appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your experience and review what happened. If you're willing, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. The Client Advocate team is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. If you contact us outside those hours, we'll typically respond the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager

John Parker is a fantastic loan officer and advisor. This is the second home we have purchased with Veterans United and John and we continue to be impressed and grateful for the professionalism and personal touch. I highly recommend reaching out to John directly if you have any questions regarding home buying and leveraging your VA benefits. 10/10 experience!
John Parker is great at his job and he definitely was able to explain a lot to me and help through everything I needed help with. Everyone on the team was a major part of everything getting done one time and I’m grateful for everyone on the team
