The home buying process, especially for first time homeowners can be a very exciting but stressful and daunting endeavour. When it came to the lender shopping period of the process; we'd had narrowed it down to two and in the end we were actually sold by Veterans United. More specifically, by our local branch manager Amanda Dusenberry. There wasn't pressure to go with, there was actual assistance just during that period and for every stressor spurred from being first timers of this process we were had a wealth of information provided to reduce it. Overall, Veterans United had/has multiple highlights for either the first time homebuyer or even the experienced given each purchase can have something that a prior did not. With knowledge there is power and for such a monumental life decision, you really do want to be as informed as possible for all facets of this process. Veterans United has the homebuying process throughly mapped out on their website in a step by step fashion; to include plenty of articles covering a myriad of topics all relative to. We appreciated the inclusion of not just their loan process or types of loans they exclusively cover but every conceivable consideration for before, during process and after. Veterans United having a portal designated for you once you register w/an account that not only streamlines the process but in such a user friendly way. Everything is easily navigatable, with documents readily available and if there's any questions outside of normal business hours related to the portal or what generates, most answers are readily available but clearly within. All of these features for us were major highlights, even more so we're the individuals affiliated with our local branch. From our experience, we were active duty army, first time homebuyers using a VA loan and have no hesitation when recommending Veterans United to anyone shopping for a lender.Amanda Dusenberry was honestly a major selling point for us to go with Veterans United. She was not a sales person trying to just get your business or pressuring in any form to go with Veterans United; which ourselves and others have and do come across when it came to lenders. She instead created an immediate sense of genuine consideration of the people that would be a part of this business transaction. She not only had 27 years of experience under her belt but not jaded nor arrogant about it. She is extremely knowledgeable, dedicated and very understanding on an empathetic level. In our opinion, especially in a business respect; that last quality listed is extremely valuable and not easy to come by. She didn't just dole out facts and figures to a customer, nor did she give cursory responses or just direct attention over to a link to learn independently only. She instead took the time to ensure that not only were we informed but understanding of the entirety of the process and our specific loan. Amanda was an extremely involved entity, that also took the time to have an understanding of our life just to make the homebuying process as reduced in stress as possible. Amanda was prompt with every reply, was thorough in providing feedback and with indepth explanations where needed. If there were any issues to navigate amongst any entity involved in our purchase; Amanda assisted in navigating us through and ensured all parties were on top of their respective work. From aquiring purchase contract all of the way till closing day, with an ecstatic for us congratulations phone call, Amanda was there. We are extremely grateful for her level of dedication, professional experience and even more for her delightful demeanor. For her position as a branch manager, that speaks volumes and do not think any of the entities working on your loan dont exemplify anything less. Amanda wouldnt hear of it and truly runs a very tight ship where customer satisfaction is paramount. In our opinion, she is exceptional at what she does and as a person; all dedicated loan team members at that branch, are the results of superb management. Amanda was a driving force behind why we not only opted for Veterans United but the combination of herself and her team are why we'd recommend to others.

Your process was straight forward, but the major problem we had with the appraiser was horrible! VU took care of us with unexpected expenses due to a two week delay. From this point on, please be sure to let your customers and their agents know that there is a longer than normal wait for the appraiser so they won't write their contract for closing in 30 days. Otherwise, the seller gets nervous when they are asked for extensions.

Excellent service. Could not recommend enough. Aaron Foster and is team are invaluable and I will highly recommend to them to all looking to purchase a new home. Aaron Foster, thank you Sir, and thank you Veteran’s United.

I had a great experience dealing with them. They were honest and very helpful at all levels.

Any questions I had were fully explained as the process moved along.

Kristen Ruesch is superb at her job, very knowledgeable and will answer and assist with anything that you may have come up. She speaks in plain English and responds immediately as you go through this process.

Our realtor, Bruce Balfeur, was an all-star! He is laid back when it comes to you looking at homes. If you have a home that you want to see, he’ll make it happen. But when you find that home you like he flips a switch and becomes all business. He’s a master at his craft. Bruce has been in the game for quite some time, and it shows! Thanks for all of your help Bruce. We were blessed to have found a realtor like you.

If you are a veteran and are actively looking to purchase a home or if you are refinancing, I would highly recommend Veterans United Home Loans!! I would give the 5/5 stars! Knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and understanding!

Veterans United put their customers first you will work with a team that would always be there to answer all your questions with fast response time and professional courtesy.

Worst company! But if you like not getting answers and being charged additional fees that were not properly disclosed this is the place for you. Will try to do everything to make this monumental event in your life as hard as possible.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Jacqueline, thank you for your open and honest feedback. Providing concise and effective communication is a top priority, and a member of our Client Advocate team is available to discuss your experience in greater detail. We are dedicated to making clear requests and assisting customers in providing documentation that is necessary for loan approval. The process for disclosing the costs of a loan is managed very closely. We understand how relying on estimates for a portion of the home buying process can seem inconsistent or make it difficult to trust the process. It is always our goal to strive for improvements, and acknowledge any mistakes made along the way. We look forward to learning more about what may have caused you to feel this way.
Our first mortgage was through USAA, who immediately transferred it to US Bank. I was not impressed with that process, however, this time I was recommended Veterans United by a friend and when I compared current rates, Veterans United was much better than other companies. I began the process, and everything was done virtually, from start to finish (minus closing, we moved and were in place for that) it was very smooth and easily done. Very happy overall and would recommend to friends/family!
