The one thing that detracted from our experience was our underwriter. Two people with dual six-figure incomes, a low debt to credit ratio, and two 800+ credit scores should not have been pulled through the wringer as we were up to and including the day we actually closed. The final straw was being required to explain we did not own houses we had lived in 25 and 30 years ago the day before closing, and having to prove why Eddie’s YTD income would be MORE than his company certified his annual income on the morning we closed. It created a huge amount of stress to be told, ‘your loan has been conditionally approved...but we have a few more questions,’ and ‘congratulations! You’re ready to close...but we have a few more questions.’
