My loan officer Collin Grote was horrible. At first he was informative and helpful. Once I applied for the application his communications with me all but ceased. My loan was scheduled to close on July 1st. The sellers agent called my agent on June 25th to ask us why the loan wasn't closing until July 5th. We had no idea the loan was closing late. Collin told the seller's agent before telling me. When I inquired with Collin he told me that he didn't know my loan was scheduled to close on the first even though it was on every form we submitted. Then he told me there were 2000 other loans the company was working on so my loan would close late. I was mad and told Collin this was unacceptable and that I had painter and carpet scheduled for the first and he better fix this problem asap. At this point Collin got very passive aggressive with me. He would ask for additional paper work and then act like it was my fault we were closing late. It was as if he didn't start working on my loan until June 25th. My real estate agent called several times to inquired about the status of the loan to which Collin never called him back, not once. On July 2nd I received an email from Collin asking for more documents from me in addition to the documents required from your under writing department he also asked other paperwork just in case underwriting might need them. At this point I called Collin and told him to submit the requested paperwork and to stop asking for additional paperwork that "might" be needed. The final straw for me was an email I received from Collin at 4:50 pm on July 3rd before holiday stating the loan would close on the fifth of July. I was hot so I called your customer service phone number and was connected to Michael in your office and explained my frustrations with Collin. He assured me someone would call me back in 15 minutes. In ten minutes I got a call from Joanne in your office who went to underwriting and finished my loan.

The only issue that I had with VUHL was that I received pre approval and was told to put in an offer on the home. I put in an offer and was told everything was fine. I had attempted this in September of 2012 also and was told the same thing, put in an offer (which was accepted and paper work signed) I then was told the loan couldn't happen because I didn't make enough money and couldn't barrow money at that time. Well after putting in this loan for our current home and making an offer which was accepted and paper worked signed and everything looked great, I was told again that money was an issue and I may not make enough and Debt to income ratio, etc. Both times my family was very happy and excited to only be disappointed, twice. After having this happen one time with VUHL before and possibly happening again, I became very upset. Thank God everything worked out, but I do not believe it is ok to treat a family trying to better themselves that way. There must be a better way to work this process. Maybe finding out all information first and verifying that the loan will go through and not be blocked or denied because of something that should be handled very early in the loan process. I think that would help with a big let down for a family trying to buy a home.
