The only issue I had with VUHL was that no one contacted me the week of my home closing to inform me that interest rates raised by over 1% from the previous week. I was told that my loan officers would constantly monitor the rates beginning one month from closing and would lock in the lowest rate for me. How I ended up with the highest rate for the entire month is still a question for me. I was happy that when I checked the rates myself and emailed my loan officer, she called me right back even though it was after hours to explain how rates had jumped. I appreciated this, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm paying $200/month more than I expected. I do appreciate the option of a free home refinance if the rates drop over 0.50% from what I currently have. Other than that, I was completely satisfied with my loan process.

The Loan Officer and his assistant did not seem to be on the same page. We (us and our realtor) were constantly having to resend paperwork duplicates. We missed our first closing date because our paperwork did not come back for an underwritting revision until the date before. The Loan Officer had 45 days from the time the offer was made until the closing date that was missed. There was a major lack of communication between the loan officer and us. Once we missed the first closing date and let the loan officer know that we (both my husband and I) were about to be homeless veterans due to the fact we had to vacate our rental property the response we got was "oh well". In the end the loan did close just in the knick of time, but I feel like this loan officer did not represent your company or support our specific needs in a timely and respectful fashion. I do not see this as a fault of VUHL, but a direct reflection of the loan officer. I would not recommend him to any of my fellow veterans.
