The whole team was informative and kept me apprised of progress on a regular basis.
Heidi Bailey Houston was excellent!! Loved working with her!
This was the first home i have ever purchased and it was FSBO. We did the whole thing without a realtor. The whole loan team helped us a ton and really went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and guide me through this whole process. I'm very grateful for all of the help and very very impressed with the initiative, assistance, professionalism, and patience they has with me as a first time homebuyer.
thanks for all of the help in accomplishing the purchase of our new home.
The whole process was smooth from beginning to end!!! All the agents on the team were professional and knowledgeable!!! Having all the paperwork that was needed helped them do their job and they did it well! The only bump was when the Notary part was needed to get done. That person didn’t live up to the Veterans United work ethic. I hope that doesn’t happen to anyone else! Kudos to Veterans United. They serve our country’s veterans well!!! Thank you!
Very easy to work with, great communication.
GREAT COMMUNICATION WITH EVAN AND HIS TEAM

Probably the best customer service from any financial institution. They were insightful, knowledgeable, and patient for this first time home buyer. 10/10
Clayton has been exceptionally helpful every time I have worked with him! I look forward to continuing working with him and the rest of the VU family!
The buying process is smooth and simple. Biggest issues that arise are not from VU at all, but the requirements made for home buying. Still not a big issue if the seller is willing to work with the Veteran buyer. My biggest complaint is the phone system itself. Getting to a rep is hard enough, but it does seem that there is an issue with coherence across the board for the techs. It took almost a full year of working with at least 12 different people to get my mortgage back on track from missing one payment and cost hundreds of dollars in fees that I was mandated to pay, which should not have fallen on me as I did my best to work with the program but it was never followed through with.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Richard,
I appreciate you sharing both sides of your experience. It’s encouraging to hear the buying process felt smooth overall, and I’m grateful you pointed that out. At the same time, what you described afterward sounds incredibly frustrating.
Trying to get your mortgage back on track after one missed payment should not feel like a year-long uphill battle. Speaking with multiple representatives, struggling to reach someone through the phone system, and feeling like follow-through did not happen would wear on anyone. I can understand how the added fees would only make that situation more upsetting.
I would really like the opportunity to review your servicing experience in detail and better understand what happened. Please reach out to me directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and we’ll respond the next business day if you contact us after hours. I’d value the chance to look into this personally.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
They was patient and worked to help at anytime, especially with the documents on computer.
Steve and his crew were absolutely awesome in assisting me with the purchase of my home! I am a customer for LIFE and will tell any veteran friends that Veterans United is the ONLY company to use! Thank you so much!
This team is absolutely amazing! They were answering my phone calls before I could even dial! Everyone helped me out with every little question I had and made sure I understood my next steps! Truly blessed to have worked with them!
I want to give a big shout out to Veterans United and say thank you! You made our family dream come true and made it a reality. In May we started the buying process with a local lender and a few weeks into the process I found out that he was not very familiar with the Va loan process. So I decided to go with Veterans United and boy I'm glad I did. We started the process on June 16th and we closed on July 14th. I had a few obstacles to overcome and the other lender I started with made it look like a very long process but Veterans United took my concerns, listen to me and made the process go smooth. I was a first time home buyer and I had no idea what to expect but Veterans United helped make the America dream come true and now I'm a proud homeowner and boy that sure has a nice ring to it. :) Jon, Ashton and the entire team was wonderful throughout the entire process and again words can't express my thanks and I close this post out by saying keep up the great work. Thank you from the Watts Family.
