It would have been nice if the loan officer could have came to closing so we could have shook her hand and told her thank you in person. We have never officially met and it would have been nice for that to have happened after all the help she provided us.
We have heard about and seen people struggle with their home purchasing processes many times. Our experience was exactly the opposite. Everything was so easy and went so smoothly it was a dream. Thank you!
My only advice would be when a client comes to the VA for a loan, you need to ask for a snap shot or summary of their life. Make the client fill out some sort of check list or sheet of information. I used the VA in 2011 to buy my first house and my experience couldn't have gone smoother. I was very satisfied. When I purchased my home two days ago, I contacted the VA very early on, before I put my house on the market, December 2014. My house sold very quickly and we closed on March 31, 2015. I was preapproved and we started looking for houses. When we finally found one, we had 30 days to close. My lender called me about 15 days into the closing process surprised we had had two children since we last used the VA for a loan. Then, four days before our closing date, the VA was surprised again when I indicated we owned 15% of an LTD in Illinois. This pushed our closing from Friday to Monday. That isn't a big deal, but I was very nervous, and so was the Seller. I have been an owner of this LTD since 2009. This should have been uncovered in 2011 when we bought our first home. We have had a K-1 in our tax returns since 2009. This could have been avoided if I was given some sort of check list or sheet to fill out at the beginning of the borrowing process. I always asked if there was more information needed. I was very responsive. Other than that confusion, I was satisfied with the process.
My wife and I had a great experience with VU! thanks
Jonathan Gunnels was fantastic to work with during this process. He was knowledgable, thorough, professional, and responsive. As we got closer to closing and things started to get a little stressful like they do towards closing, Jonathan was an accessible, reassuring and calming entity for us.

I'd just like to say again how great Jackie was. Because of her, we had a fairly smooth, quick and efficient process. I finally felt like I had someone on my side, helping me.
Lisa and I are so happy and VU was instrumental in making our dream of home ownership possible. We will be forever grateful.
The entire team at VU was phenominal. They provided an outstanding realtor who was there at all hours to assist. Being deployed and having spotty internet capability, this process could have been much harder. Ross kept my wife and I informed through every step of the the process and ensured we had plenty of time to collect any information needed for the underwriter. Scott took care of everything with the house, from termite inspections to ensuring all items on the home inspection were repaired. We closed on time and are extremely happy with our entire experience. Ross and Scott have set the standard for any future real estate purchase I make to live up to. Thanks for everything and thanks for making my first time home purchase easy and stress free.
Tom was fantastic and we have NO complaints about him as a real estate agent. However, it would have been nice if he'd been more local. There were a couple times we had to schedule later in the week to make schedules work (could have been my fault too) and one house that we never saw because of travel issues. We also had to travel a bit to create the offer and for the signing. It was worth it, but would have been better if he'd been local. We will definitely use him again, but for other buyers, just maybe try to find more local agents.
Sarah Riley - Land will someday be signing the checks for everyone. ..Lol. Kudos to Sarah! !!
After dealing with several other "VA Loan Brokers" who failed me, frustrated, I took a chance and called Veterans United. Got the number off the internet when I searched VA Loans... I thought to myself: it's a long shot, probably a big sales pitch or something... WOW was I wrong! From the very first call, speaking with Matt Landis, I was on my way to home ownership. Matt was confident that he could make it happen after just hearing some basic info and the next thing I knew the process was underway... from that point forward I never had any doubts I had made the right decision to call. Of course it IS a process and there were ups and downs but Matt handled it with a high level of professionalism, always being there when I called and having a direct answer for all my questions no matter how daft. He put me in touch with a local agent (Terri Cox, Denver) who specializes in VA home purchases and she was excellent as well! The two of them communicated and worked together to tailor the loan to suit me best. Overall the entire process with Veterans United, from start to finish, was actually quite simple. I will rave and recommend Veterans United, Matt Landis and Terri Cox to everyone I know for years to come! Thank You Thank You!!!
We just want to say a big Thank You to Sam for sticking with us for over 18 months, never loosing sight of our goal and helping us into our new home. His honesty was impeccable and we truly enjoyed the experience. I only hope you have more Loan Specialist like him. THANK YOU SAM AND TEAM.
They made every thing simple , not complicate at all, thanks guys.
The individual that assisted in everything, Kendal Eckles needs to be more personable and know what needs to be paid for up front or can be added to closing.
