I would be up front with the Veteran about all the necessary documentation that will be required over the course of the loan application process. For example; if a request by VUHL for documents A - H is made on Monday, do not further request documents I and J on Thursday, then documents K - N the next Monday. Simply request docs A-N on the first Monday. Then when a closing date is scheduled; keep that date! Do not schedule a closing on Friday and then tell the Vet on Thursday at 4:30 pm the closing is postponed until the following Monday. By then the Vet has already taken Friday off work and scheduled movers for Saturday. To cancel movers with less than 24 hours notice costs the Vet his $100 deposit. His place of employment may not allow him another day off until after the following payday.....so what is he to do if he can't get to closing on Monday?
