I rated our experience a 6/0. Scoring a 6/10 in school is a failing grade. Our home-buying experience was miserably exhausting the closer we got to our close date. Being the first experience of buying a house we were told by many that it would be the most difficult thing we have ever done. VU did not disappoint. Our close date was extended over and over again. Paperwork was submitted again and again. And again we were delayed. My biggest issue is that we as homebuyers did not have any contact with the underwriter. In our situation it was numerous underwriters who each wanted something different. There was no justification for half of the repetitive paperwork and it just seemed that there was no reasoning behind it. Being active-duty you would think that there would be a checklist and everyday there was something new. The only reason why I would recommend VU is the caliber of the user interface and the actual representatives that you can speak to. The final approver team of underwriters is lacking and I feel as if there is a repetitive issue with extended close dates in which the potential for losing money by the sellers backing out is likely. No family should be in fear of losing a residence during the closing process.

The only thing I would say is no one warned me to not open any credit lines while in escrow. I almost made the mistake on a purchase at a store, however, a family member was luckily with me and warned me of the possible complications. Being a first time home buyer it would of been appreciated. Other than that no complaints. Thanks Veterans United Team!
