I was not looking forward to the dilemma and stress that comes with the process of buying a home. In those two years I had developed a high income to debt ratio, due to her medical expenses. In addition, I had been displaced from my first home because the area was devastated by a hurricane, and all the basic utility services and infrastructure had disappeared. A veteran friend mentioned Veterans United, and how they had been a great experience for him. I looked them up online late one night. Early the next day I got a call from Christy Herman, from VU. Christy answered all my questions immediately, in a pleasant fashion and without pressure. She verified my credit and set me up with a Team of VU experts, including a local realtor, named Sherry Grove. Ms. Grove is a veteran herself and is familiar with our procedures and needs. Sherry called me within minutes of getting assigned to my case. It was the most complete and amazing interaction I have ever had as part of a business transaction. She asked every possible question about what I was looking for in a home, what I needed and what I wanted. She gave me a wealth of information, which not only helped me in this transaction, but that I will always carry with me and share with others. Sherry is savvy and understanding as a realtor. She speaks clearly from the start, works well with difficult people, and leaves a sense of trustworthiness in you when it is all done. Most of what Christy told me from the beginning sounded amazing, so I was a little skeptical but happy having her and Sherry on my side. Then, I started working closer with Sara Hribik, my Loan Officer, and Tyler Schuster. Every day new questions and concerns would come up. Sara and Tyler answered each of them in a kind, loving and timely manner every single time. They always made sure I knew and understood exactly what was being done and why. They became not only my Loan Team, but sweet friends whom I feel I can trust. When I received my “Home buying kit”, I followed its advice to shop around to ensure I was not skipping on exploring all of my options. I got Loan Estimates from 3 other mortgage lenders. I must say that was a big waste of waste of time! It was then when I got a taste of the tricky business and fake advertisement a lot of banks offer. They made offers that they could not match with their numbers. When the numbers did not make sense, they would make up shady excuses and having an accounting degree myself, I caught them on many lies. A week-long of lies and deception circled me right back to Veterans United, where my numbers had been crystal clear from day one, and I received no harassment or pressure. I realized just how blessed I was to be able to count on Veterans United! Sara Hribik and Tyler Schuster stayed with me all the way until after my Closing. Today, I miss their regular phone calls to update me and ask if I had questions or concerns. My Team and Veterans United was God sent! They have been my light!!! My family and I are enjoying our new home and feel confident that Veterans United should be the only place where veterans get their mortgage needs satisfied. Veterans United are veterans’ only real friend when it comes to buying a home. Since this wasn’t my first ever mortgage, I did my research, and came to the conclusion that Veterans United was a good choice. Throughout the process they were very helpful and the website was useful in keeping me abreast of things to do and things being done. After it is all said and done, I made a good choice and I recommend them without reservation.
The process was straight forward. It moved very fast and we had no issues that werent handled within hours, maybe a day or two.

Communications and lack of knowledge seemed to be my largest concern. I was told from the beginning that doing manufactured homes was not their expertise and I was fine with that. After receiving both sets of documents and filling them out and returning promptly I continue to receive paperwork requests that seemed to be oh by the way kind of requests. I feel that if servicing a certain state or area the individual should be a subject matter expert in these regards. I'm a air traffic controller so therefore communications and understanding is the upmost of my concern. I also feel that a better informed staff will result in a better return of customer support.
