The service from Mr. Riggs and Ms. Walter was outstanding...the challenge was in continually receiving requests for more detailed information from the lender. It was a frustrating experience...again, NOT because of Veterans United but because of the continually changing requirements.
One caveat here. While Nick was great, his team member assigned to us -- Mike -- was not. Mike was abrupt, rude, and non-communicative. For example, we had an issue with a tax document. I had submitted our tax documents on April 27, long before we hit the road on May 30 to travel from Tennessee to the home we were working to buy in Alaska. On June 1, while we were bumming internet from a MacDonalds in rural Colorado, Mike let me know this was not the right tax document. Ok -- but why not tell me that a MONTH before when there was something I could do about it easily? Instead we were sent scrambling to the local library and post office -- two small kids and dog in tow -- to print the doc request form for the IRS and mail it off while we were supposed to be hitting the road to get to our next stopping point. IRS said they had 75 days to turn around the request, far from the 20 days until our closing date. This caused a LOT of stress, as you can imagine. I literally lay in bed several nights trying to sleep, asking my husband what in the world we were going to do if we didnt get our loan in time because of this problem.It wasn't until I called looking for an update almost two weeks later that Nick let me know we had actually received an exemption from VA United and no longer needed that form. Why didn't Mike let me know that as soon as it was true? Instead he let us spend time worrying over this. Rude and not OK.

Caleb was super attentive and responsive from day 1. He was always very thorough in answering our questions and never pressured us into making any decisions regarding the lender we chose to use. He got us approval letters as needed, even with only a hour's notice! Our agent was doubtful about us using a lender who wasn't local, but she also was very impressed with Caleb and said that he is the best out of state loan officer that she has ever worked with.We cannot recommend Caleb highly enough; he truly made our first home buying experience a pleasure, and his knowledge of the VA loan policies and procedures were invaluable in our decision make process. We will absolutely use Veteran's United in the future when we are ready for another home, and will gladly recommend VU to our Veteran friends and family.
