Communication needs to be improved between loan officers amd underwriters/supervisors so applicants can get a clear picture of what they need. Paperwork needs to be processed more efficiently. There is mo reason for last minute verifications while at the closing table. A better estimation of closing costs would be appreciated. We had a $3,800 discrepancy which proved very challenging for us amd almost cost us the home and left us homeless. Everything seemed rushed and issues were caught last minute that should have been caught a week or two prior when information was submitted.

Overall, Andy was very helpful and prompt with replies to my inquiry. The issue I had was that when I asked the real estate agent you recommended how the closing process is done when the mortage company is not a local one, he said the loan officer would join the closing session by phone. When were were setting up the time, what I got from the realtor, was that the time was being coordinated with the loan officer. Maybe I misunderstood because too late into the signing of the documents I realized that Veteran's United did not have a representative join us by phone. In hindsight I think maybe they really should have overseen the signing even if by teleconference. I thought the realtor was being pretty thourough with the walk through. When we got the keys and went to the house, we realized that the crack in the leaded stain glass panel of the front that we had agreeed was repaired, had not been repaired, but replaced with a plexiglass panel. Now this is something that Veteran's United has no control over and in our excitement, we missed this and now don't feel that the front door is secure. Also inhindsight, check out how the seller's realtor and the buyer's realtor handle the offers and counter offers. This is not sour grapes but it's just something I wondered about afterward because of how he or maybe the seller's realtor represented the buyers as living out of town.
