We were happy dealing with VU. Suggestion would be to not just send out to do and sign documents but to give more information as to why. Provide some sort of checklist of what is expected from day one to closing. Show timeline of such.

Our home building journey started with Veterans United over 18 months ago. My wife and I had never built before and it wasn't clear to us exactly how to get a VA home loan for this. Shortly after applying, Hunter reached out and explained how to do this. We went through 2 different banks; one for the lot loan and one for the construction loan. In dealing with the other lenders, the contrast between the service we received from Hunter was profound. With the interest rates being so low, the other lenders would speak like they were reading disclaimers at the end of a commercial (very fast) and weren't interested in speaking for more than 5 minutes. Whenever speaking with Hunter, he took the time to ensure we understood everything and never rushed to get us off the phone.Throughout the almost 2 year process, Hunter had regular contact with us. We really thought this was unique as the benefit to Veterans United was further out (than a traditional loan or re-fi). This illustrates Hunter's drive to form relationships rather than mere closing stats. Hunter's level of customer service is superior and at are so happy he was there on our journey!

Working with Veterans United was very stressful, and we wish that we did not go with them. They made the home-buying process so much more challenging. We were supposed to close on the 8th, later turned into the 9th and the 10th. Finally we closed on the 11th! They were difficult to get in contact with, and they also did not do a good job of keeping us in the loop. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company. Our loan officer Caitlin was rude and very unhelpful.
