My only complaint about this whole process is the title company. They caused a major delay and caused us to have to have the pest inspection done twice and pay for it a second time. We did get refunded $129 of $$155 fee that we paid the second time which I’m very thankful for but for something that should have taken a month to six weeks took just a little over three months. Overall, I’m very happy with veterans United and how the whole process went from beginning to close.

If it is your first time purchasing a house I would recommend doing a lot of research beforehand. I only would recommend the VA loan because a lot of costs are taken care of prior to closing that you would have to pay for if it was a regular home loan. I didn’t feel they had my best interest in mind when it came to the loan. They were just going to offer me the highest interest rate even though my credit was great.. in the 800s and no issues on my credit report history. Not until I got a better offer with someone else did they try and match it but prior to that it was basically “due to what’s going on overseas”…. Some of the process I felt was done backwards. There was a delay on closing I felt could have been mitigated if those were one of the first things taken care of. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. It definitely could have been worse but I am so glad this process is over! The team did check in to see if I had questions but I don’t know what to ask if it’s my first time. I asked the lenders if there was anything needed from me and I would get “no we’re good for now” when there were things needed and there were documents I had to submit twice because they didn’t know I submitted it prior to when they asked (I guess). So for others I would advise them to research all the important things for purchasing a home and how the process works before starting the home buying process. Know what you can negotiate/ask for, and always shop around for lenders to get better deals. DO NOT ASSUME they have your best interest in mind like we do in the military. It’s a business for them to get the deal. And READ EVERYTHING IN DETAIL before signing especially at closing because there were multiple errors, and last minute changes that were made to the loan that my lender didn’t even know were changed so I wasn’t given any heads up about it. The attorney was visibly annoyed that I had questions or showed him where there were mistakes on the documents. He half explained things to me but when the sellers came he gave them all of his attention and just dismissed me until they were done. He catered to them so that they can go to their next appointment but didn’t apologize for having me wait longer due to the clerk having to fix multiple documents that they had errors on. That’s the gist of it. Oh and there are things you have to pay for throughout the process like inspections earnest money and appraisals so don’t expect to not have to pay anything.

We’ve used VU twice and a smaller lender once for our three total times we’ve purchased a home using the VA Loan. Will highly recommend them over and over as we haven’t seen many other lenders top their customer service and support throughout the process. We always feel informed and like we’re part of the entire process during each step, whereas other lenders keep to themselves while working on things behind the scenes. Grateful for VU and will always recommend them for VA Loans.

Where do I begin? It’s just so amazing how they make it so smoothly not stressful and they take care of everything pretty much. I can’t thank them enough for helping us get this house. I’m just so grateful. I’d like to thank everybody that helped us. God bless you.

We had an outstanding experience with Veterans United Home Mortgage from start to finish. Buying a home can be stressful, especially with all the moving pieces involved, but their team made the entire process feel as smooth as possible, organized, and manageable.
Everyone we worked with was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cared about helping us reach the finish line. They took the time to answer every question, explain each step, and made sure we always knew what was happening. Their attention to detail and commitment to veterans and their families truly stood out.
We are incredibly grateful for the support, professionalism, and kindness we received. Veterans United helped make our dream of purchasing our home a reality, and we would recommend them without hesitation!

Easy, easy procedure. Provide some paperwork and sit down with a cup of coffee. The next thing you know you are closing on your dream home. I’ve bought four homes, this was the easiest for me. I can’t say enough for the VU staff!

We truly could not have asked for a better loan officer than Miles! From the very beginning, he was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, charismatic, and just genuinely enjoyable to work with. Going through the mortgage process can be stressful and overwhelming, but Miles somehow managed to make the entire experience feel much easier and a lot less intimidating.
One of the things we appreciated most about Miles was his patience. We had plenty of questions throughout the process, and not once did he ever make us feel like we were asking too much or bothering him. He always took the time to explain things in a way that made sense, walked us through what to expect, and made sure we felt comfortable before moving forward. That kind of patience and reassurance means so much when you're making one of the biggest financial decisions of your life.
Beyond being great at his job, Miles has such a charismatic and personable personality that made working with him feel less like a business transaction and more like working with someone we had known for years. He was easy to talk to, always positive, and somehow knew how to keep things light even during the more stressful parts of the process. We genuinely looked forward to talking to him!
What really stood out to us was that we never felt like we were simply another loan or another number. Miles made the experience personal, and we always felt like he genuinely cared about getting us across the finish line and into our new home. Having someone like that in your corner makes such a huge difference.
We are incredibly grateful to Miles for all of his patience, guidance, and support throughout this journey. Buying a home is such an important milestone, and we will always remember the people who helped make it happen.
If we ever decide to buy another home, there is absolutely no question that we will be reaching out to Miles again. We would recommend him without hesitation to our friends, family, or anyone looking for a loan officer they can trust. If you're fortunate enough to work with Miles, you're in great hands.
Thank you, Miles, for everything you did for us and for helping make this experience such a positive and memorable one. We couldn't recommend you enough!

My home buying experience with Veteran's United could not have been better! I was able to purchase my home in another state without one setback. The electronic document signing process was so efficient and a no brainer, pardon the military terminology. Buying a home can be a very stressful experience, Veteran's United took a lot of the hassle out of the equation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family.

Veterans United made my home buying experience outstanding from start to finish. The entire team made me feel comfortable throughout the process, answered every question I had, and was always incredibly responsive. As a first-time homebuyer, I had plenty of nerves, but they took the time to explain everything clearly and made the entire experience feel much less overwhelming. I always felt supported and never rushed. I couldn’t have asked for a better lender, and I would absolutely recommend Veterans United to anyone looking to buy a home. 10/10 experience!

If you’re looking for a team that goes above and beyond, look no further than Veterans United Home Loans. From start to finish, this entire team had my back like a well-oiled machine. Every time I had a question or needed something done, they didn’t just meet my expectations, they crushed them. They kept me in the loop at all times, making sure I was never left wondering what was going on. I swear they must have had a direct line to my thoughts because they always stayed one step ahead!Huge shoutout to the entire team, seriously, these guys didn’t miss a beat. They made the home-buying process feel like a breeze, which is saying a lot considering how stressful it can be. I don’t know if they run on coffee or pure determination, but whatever it is, it works! I’d ask for something, and boom, it was already done. They didn’t just do their job, they did it with care, efficiency, and a level of dedication that’s hard to find these days. But I have to take a moment to talk about Jordan Powell, my loan officer. If you’re lucky enough to get him, consider yourself blessed. This guy is a rockstar! Jordan was always ten steps ahead, making sure I had zero worries and that everything was handled perfectly. He got things done faster than I could blink, and he always had my best interest in mind. I’m pretty sure if there was an Olympic event for loan officers, Jordan would bring home the gold.To anyone out there thinking about going with Veterans United, DO IT. I can’t recommend them enough. They took care of me like family, and I know they’ll do the same for you. If you’re lucky enough to get Jordan Powell, just know you’re in the best hands possible. This team doesn’t just get the job done, they set the gold standard.10/10, highly recommend, and I’d do it all over again without hesitation. Thanks again to Veterans United and the dream team that made it all happen!

Issue #1) Problems (plumbing) were discovered during the initial inspection of the house. We asked that the plumbing be fixed before we buy the house. The home inspector told our realtor that the plumbing was fixed (corrected). The realtor didn’t do a follow up to confirm the problem was fixed. When we moved in, we discovered that the problem was not fixed. (It was still the same, no attempt to fix it) We are still trying to get the problem fixed but running into dead ends.
Issue #2) We were told that the standing grey water (2-3 inches deep) approximately 12-15 feet in diameter over the septic tank was normal. Come to find out that’s not true. Also, according to the next-door neighbors, the previous owners had a septic truck come out and do some work on the tank about 10-14 days before we moved in. This was not relayed to us or anyone else. Multiple people (neighbors, yard maintenance and handyman) have told us there is a problem with the septic tank. So no assistance with that currently.

Response from Veterans United

Hi Steve,
I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with these plumbing and septic concerns after moving into your home. I can understand how upsetting it would be to believe these issues had been addressed before closing, only to discover otherwise.

A VA appraisal is intended to assess the property’s value and condition based on what is readily observable, and it isn’t a substitute for a home inspection. While Veterans United doesn’t control the inspection or repairs, I’d like the opportunity to learn more about what happened and see how I can help point you in the right direction. Please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com.

Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager

From day 1, when I met David Fields, he's been instrumental during the entire process. He told me then, and continued to tell me, "if there's anything you need or questions you need answered, call me anytime". True to his word he was. Called several times after hours and even the holidays, but it was by accident due to the time zones and I work 2 weeks straight and get lost with, "is it Monday or Saturday", type thing.
But yes, I couldn't have done it without the assistance of this great team. A truly collaborative team.
One thing is to have tools readily accessible as an employee, and another is mastering these assets that have been provided to the team. One can really notice the streamline program that has been developed for customers like me. But ince again, I bring it back to the professional that masters their craft. This entire team are truly masters of their craft.
So YES, I would highly share my experience with anyone and definitely recommend Veterans United.!!
