First time home buyer. Didn’t know what I didn’t know. Some things were explained but looking back, a few things were not explained well. During the original talks of looking at a mortgage, options to put cash toward the principal and lower the monthly payment (via recast, down payment, etc) were described that ended up never being included because they weren’t allowed or just weren’t ever brought up again even though I had asked for them.The entire process was rushed when things needed signature or information was needed and, although probably my fault, was blindly trusted as in my best interest when it’s clearly a push to lock people in and close as soon as possible to limit opportunities to shop around for the best option for the buyer even though I had almost 3 months till the closing date due to seller contingencies. A realtor was assigned which made it easy but was a similar situation where it felt like a rush to pick a house and close instead of finding the best option.
