From a Veteran who has used the VA Home Loan Guarantee benefit three times, buying a home is never an easy process, but Veterans United (VU) has changed the way we buy a home with our VA benefit. From an user friendly website which facilitates the submission of documents, instructional videos that educate you on how the process works, to a team of professionals that are constantly in communication with you in order to make the process as painless as possible (even during the underwriting phase). Understand VU is not the VA. Their job is to facilitate the loan acquisition process. VA guarantees loan. Understand the credit score is not only factor for loan approval, that debt to income and payment history are pretty important and not every one will qualify. Insurance rates, HOA fees, and CDD fees on the home you want to purchase also play a role. This is different than making payments for a rental property. Believe me VU wants to approve you but they are not going to approve you if you cannot prove that you can pay the loan back. Unfortunately, a lot of veterans have had bad experiences trying to buy a home with the VA benefit. Don't give up, use the lenders programs to help you fix the things that need fixed so that you can too get the home of your dreams because "no" does not always mean a final no. Great experience!!! It does take a little patience if your a first time home buyer such as myself. Every step of the way I was assisted by my loan officer Leah Maloney and her assistant Danielle. Couldn’t ask for a better team!!!! If your a Veteran Veterans United is the way to go, and if I ever need a loan company again I know who I’ll be going with!!!!

Working with Veterans United was easy and let me tell you my credit at the start wasn't that great either. The Veterans United Lighthouse program helped me alot, helped me pin point areas that need to be address and direction I needed to get my credit on the right path. Within a month my credit met the pre-approval base line. Then when I started to work with loan Officer Cooper Allen my score was where it needed to be but needed a few other items to be looked at and gave me more things to take care of. Also this point had a house I had in mind so gave a baseline for how much I wanted/needed to borrow. Every step of the way my Loan Officer Cooper Allen was there to answer every question I had and also help me in direction and to include looking out for me and my family making sure the home was up to VA standards and then some.I started at 590s in the Lighthouse Program in Oct2018 by Dec2018 my credit score was in the 680s-730s. If you are dedicated to getting a home just as you were Dedicated in your Service. I highly recommend Veterans United and if your credit needs a little help and guidance seek help in Veterans United Lighthouse Program. As of Dec 26th 2018 I am a Home Owner and you can be too, nothing is impossible.
