Although purchasing a home is a very time consuming, stressful, and daunting task, my experience with the staff at Veterans United and the realtor was very smooth. Everyone was always ready to help whenever I didn’t understand something or had a question. I had a wonderful experience!
I only trust VU as my mortgage broker. They care about veterans and it shows. VU has always made the mortgage underwriting process as painless as possible.Waiting for my next IRRL, through VU, as interest rates drop over the next couple of years.
I used veterans United again because of my experience with Jeff Gordon. However my experience with Beth Madden was less than optimal and led to a late closure which costs me hundreds of dollars in unexpected expenses for lodging fuel and food. The customer service and inability to return phone calls by her and the organization only added to already tumultuous situation and further complicated matters. It is because of this that I cannot in good faith recommend this company to and of my friends or family, and certainly not to the Marines under my charge.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Solomon,
First off, I want to sincerely apologize for the experience you had with us this time around. It sounds like it was an incredibly stressful process, and I’m really sorry we added to that. I know you came back to us because of your positive experience with Jeff Gordon, and it’s disappointing that we didn’t live up to that same standard this time.
It's also frustrating to hear that communication was lacking when you needed it most. Delays at closing can be tough, and I completely understand how the unexpected costs for lodging, fuel, and food only added to the stress.
Your journey with us is something we take seriously, and clear communication is a huge part of making this process smoother. My team would love to look into what happened and see if there’s anything we can learn from it or improve. If you're open to it, please reach out to my Client Advocate team so we can dive in further. You can reach us at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com.
Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, and I’m truly sorry we let you down this time.
Veterans United has made a dream a reality. From the first contact to closing, it has been an awesome experience. Being a first time home buyer, the whole process is very intimidating. Veterans United has made this very easy, and has helped make a dream come true. I would recommend them to everyone who is looking to buy a home. Thank you, Veterans United for my forever home. Bryan.
Alex Dickherber was our loan officer for our original purchase and then our refinance. He reached out to us and was the reason we have a better rate now. Both times, Alex was key in getting our loan closed and funded. The refinance was super quick and Nick Asher, our loan coordinator was amazing and quickly processed any documentation we sent.Alex Dickherber is a gem and we hope to use him again in the future. Veterans United had better hold on to him!!!!
I appreciate all the help, specially because I know I can trust the people at Veterans United.

Such wonderful people! Always so helpful and comforting through what can often be, a scary and overwhelming process! Any questions we had were always answered in a timely manner and we never felt like we "should" know the answer. I strongly recommend Ty Reese and Alyssa Schneiders! They took us through the process with no tears shed! It was a relatively short process compared to others I've been through. They did it all and kept us apprised of the status at each step along the way. If we ever do this again, they will be our first call!
