The problems we had all came from the underwriting department. There was always one more last minute request for documentation, and it was almost always something they should have known days ago that they were going to need and shouldn't have waited until the last minute to request it from us, which led to weeks of delays in closing.
Tory was an absolute ROCK STAR throughout this whole process. Nina was amazing too. You guys are super lucky to have them on your team. In my opinion Tory went above and beyond what a loan officer should do. Before I decided on you guys, I contacted several other refinance companies and NONE of them were as responsive as her. It should also be said that you guys had the most competitive rates, so it shouldn't have surprised me that the entire experience would be top-notch. You guys are doing great work - don't change a thing!

So Tom and his team saved the day on this one. I left Active Duty and moved back to my hometown and had been living in this house I really disliked. We had been looking but not too hard. Then one day the one house in town that I told my wife many times I was going to buy it came on the market. I have a goal of buying a few rental properties so I started working with the “local lender” with plans to build a relationship and hopefully do more transactions in the future. I also contacted Veterans United. I have always shopped for rates to compare origination charges and interest rates over my many PCS’s. Well both companies were very similar so I went with the local guy initially. I called Tom and informed him of this. Tom asked if we could continue the process in case the local lender didn’t come through. I figured it wouldn’t hurt. Well 5 days later the local guy called and said we would have to put off closing for a couple months till my pay showed normal again. I had gotten back from a deployment a month early because my father in law passed away. I fly for a major Airline so I decided to not go right back to work with them since our schedules were already set for that month. My wife needed me more for those few weeks. Anyways the local guy’s underwriting didn’t understand my pay with being a reservist and what was going on with my orders and schedule at my airline. After that call I called Tom and asked if there would be any issues with Veterans United’s underwriting. He didn’t see a problem and said he couldn’t guarantee anything but they would do their best. In the end we got to close on time and the good faith estimate ended up being spot on. I couldn’t recommend Tom and his team more. Coming from a guy who has bought and sold homes through 5 PCS’s. If you are 99% sure you are going with someone else at least get a quote. Their app and website were much easier to use than other companies I have used in the past. I’m starting to ramble so seriously contact them if you are buying or thinking of buying.
