Our Home Loan Specialist, Jeannette Klein, was quite extraordinary, as both a person, and professional. She was always the voice of calm, and reason; in regards to such a challenging time as making a substantial investment through buying a home. Veterans United Home Loans was the easiest of all of the lenders we searched through to work with, and on top of everything they are local, so we didn't feel like just another number in the pool. Quite pleasing to be in business with a large company, that feels like a relatable hometown store.

My real estate agent and I both had trouble trying to get in contact with the loan officer or assistant.
Communication with Derek and his team was horrible. There will be days before I would hear back from him or someone else on his team. Derek drop the ball in regards to my closing date in which I was supposed to close on a Friday but had to close on a Monday. Derek knew before hand of a issue that would push the close date to Monday. However he failed notify me or my realtor but instead notified the Chicago Title. I had to cancel moving company, installation of services, and also extend days from work which cost me funds that wasn't in my budget. I am very disappointed in Veteran Home Loan as I thought they put Veterans first but my experience has taught me that is not the case.

Veteran's United made the intimidating process of being a first time home buyer painless and seamless. Their online portal did a fantastic job of cutting the paperwork into manageable sections that you completed as they became necessary, instead of asking for everything up front. The staff that worked on my loan were always polite, friendly, and professional when dealing with my questions, and never seemed upset or frustrated when I asked the same question 3 times.

I had a few issues with my credit the first time I called Veterans United and they referred me to the Lighthouse program who helped me get my credit not only to where it needed to be for minimum requirements but beyond it as well. Overall a wonderful experience and would heartily recommend VU for anyone I know that will be looking for a house.
The only issue I had was the underwriters addiing items last minute.
