Shannon was absolutely hands down wonderful to work with. She was completely professional, and had endless supply of patience and genuine care for the people she helps applying for a VA home loan. She was just down right a nice person and you could tell just by speaking to her on the phone and even with her emails! And she was excellent and prompt at communicating with updates or any changes. It was a true pleasure to work with her!Sincerely, Deborah King
Good faith estimates used are extremely low. Example, my home owners insurance good faith quote was $700.00. The actual cost was $2300.00This oversight causee my monthly payment to go up $120.00 per month.
My only recommendation would be to become more digital. The paperwork process seems to be somewhat out-of-date compared to other lenders, such as NFCU. However your loan officer, Luke Thurman, was the reason why we chose VUHL as our lender. His communication skills are top-notch and he made himself available to answer any questions my wife and I had, including weekends, during the entire process. Very professional.
I would make one recommendation. The company/people you use to meet with your customers to sign the final loan documents should know what the documents are and how to explain them to your customer. I felt the person we met with was not knowledgeable in what she was asking us to sign. Fortunately, my husband used to be in the mortgage business and he was familiar with the documents. However, any other person would not know what they were signing and could not get the paperwork explained to them. Thank you, Ken and Lorie Clark
For the week after I was supposed to close, I received emails every day asking for additional information and paperwork. It seems like these things should have been collected earlier. I was also not impressed with how difficult it was to get a hold of those involved in my loan process.
Hoops, Hoops, and more Hoops!!I think we would have come out better is we had just contacted our previous mortgage company and have changes made to our contract. We were forced to make repairs (window trim) with a contractor that will only be torn down and replaced when the new windows are put in. Thus $$ x 2. I tried repeatedly to explain how silly this was but to no avail. I can understand that you have to be sure that the repairs are going to be made, but a contract with the contractor should have been enough proof of the PLAN to do the work, instead, we had to put up NEW trim just to tear it back down when the new windows go in. Glad that it is all done so we can just finish the new windows.
Our experience was a good one over all. I would have liked it to have moved a bit faster, but understand that you are working with a number of different people.
Most of the feed back I recieved was via email. I would have liked to talk to someone a little more. The process was not bad, it look a little longer than I expected. But overall experiance was good. Papers were brought to our home to sign. Which made it really great having a child with autism, were it is difficult to get him around and waiting in an office to sign paper work.
