You should be very proud of Michael for his vast knowledge, customer care, and the most dedication to getting the job done. I have never in all my life seen anyone work as hard as he did to get us in our new home. Michael is superior in what he does and excels at every aspect of the loan approval process. I don't know how he does it working weekends and late nights yet he still has time to be a husband and family man. There are not enough words I have to tell how thankful we are. I don't call your company "Veterans United Home Loans"; I think of it as "Michael unites veterans and helps them own homes". I am spreading the word far and wide to anyone who will listen to contact Michael if they want a great home financed at a great rate.
Very poor communication:
On more than one occasion I called and or emailed, "Do you have everything, is there anything else you need from me?" Only to hear, "everything looks good, we're moving forward" etc.. Yet, when it was time to close, they still needed my loan application, and several other documents that had been previously sent.
The team lacked "following through":
My child care letter which showed $0 was scrutinized because I claimed child care expenses in 2013. In 2013 I was paying daycare, but ceased in Jan 2014. This should have been cleared/confirmed in Aug. when the child care letter was initially provided. Instead it wasn't "looked into" until the day after I was supposed to close.
Not paying attention to detail:
I informed "the team" day one, with the initial documents that was provided that I DID NOT get pay stubs. After providing W2's, checking and savings statements, letter of explanation from my employer and a letter from my companys CPA. The day I was supposed to close as well as the day after, I was still faxing and scanning documents proving my employment and income.
Not being forthcoming:
I was told point blank "with your excellent credit score, you'll get the best interest rate that's out there".
What I should have been told is "with your excellent credit score, you'll get the best interest rate that Veterans United can offer". Imagine my disappointment when I spoke to several different companies that stated "I closed a VA loan last week at 3.4%" and my very own co-worker closed at 3.65%, the week I went under contract, with out buying points or putting any money down.
I know the team worked hard, after the fact, to push my loan through, however, I feel a lot of the issues should have been handled initially and I would've closed on time and not 2 days later.
Your underwriter did a horrible job supporting my loan. She did not understand how my retirement loan operated and delayed this loan by days. What makes those days important is that my family (4 kids, 1 of which is a newborn) and I were living in a hotel room waiting for this loan to close. Even with detailed statements, explainations from my retirement representative and even a conference call, she still could not comprehend how my financial statements related to my bank account. It was a ridiculous hangup and one that that ruined my overall impression of veterans united. I cold called your company for this loan. I didn't use another bank because of Zacs excellent customer service. He saved the face of your company. Please review the performance of the underwriter on my account. Thank you.

Mr. Hanson displayed not only a thorough knowledge of the home loan/buying process but an understanding and appreciation for veterans new to the process. Jake constantly stayed in contact with me during my application and offered insights whenever I had questions. He was exemplary in his conduct and performed as a consummate professional. I feel I was extremely fortunate that Mr. Hanson worked my file. He is a great asset to the veteran community and I wish him every success in his career.
