Bought our home as a for sale by owner without a Real Estate Agent.

Had a few issues dealing with the relocation company (SIRVA) real-estate agent. (Gerald Huffman) he had insulted my wife at the closing when we asked why they had turned off the electric when we had not closed yet, causing me $500 in cleaning costs to the pool and the refrigerator that had accumulated mold. He said that he would take the refrigerator but my wife would have to load it, after she told him that I could not lift the refrigerator into his truck

I must say I was surprised that Veterans United even considered me for a home refinance loan. In 2006 I was forced to file Chapter 13 Bankruptcy because of the business I was in. I paid on that for 8 years and when I paid it off I started looking to get my home refinanced. My mortgage was held by a debt collector and it would be sold every years or so and my payment would be raised. Veterans United proceeded with the loan and told me we couldn't complete it until I received a discharge from bankruptcy. They completed everything and very shortly after I received the discharge I signed the final papers. I am very happy with Veterans United Home Loans and especially with Leanna Moss. I would recommend Veterans United to anyone I know and anyone I might meet that wants to finance a home.

Process was frustating because of the poor communication. Now that we are closed we are very happy.

You should have a checklist of everything that needs to be done. It seems like every day up until the day before closing I was being asked for some kind of documentation or inspection. I had to pay for an inspector, then when the appraiser came, he acted like the inspector and required some things be done that the inspector didn't think were a problem. Why did I waste money on an inspector, when the appraiser did the same thing? Also, the system you have for electronic signatures is horrible. Whatever system my real estate agent uses is simple and straight forward. You should switch to whatever system her company uses.

Overall, I wasn't happy with Veterans United, but I love my new house and am happy I was able to get the loan.

I felt like I was the only one they were helping, even though I know I was not. Always responsive, even on weekends which was a big surprise. Alex did a great job getting over all the hurdles for me, and Sheila Salvoni also helped in a very professional manner. Thanks so much for the help in getting my new home!
