I really appreciated Veteran United and especially Steve Schuh, my loan officer, on my journey to buy my first home. It was a very easy and pleasant process. Words are not enough to say how much I want to thank them!

When I decided to start looking for a home I was intimidated by the whole process. From finding an agent to how to actually use my VA loan. Veterans United helped every step of the way. They handled getting us a local agent who knew the area and telhe VA loan process. Once we found a house everything was laid out clearly that was needed to get an offer submitted and approved for the loan. Any questions I had at any step in the process was answered quickly and thoroughly. The whole Veterans United team made this process significantly less stressful and were outstanding. Fantastic team of people working to get Veterans into a home.

I started the morgage loan process with my home builders lender but was denied a loan because I was building a home that was considered too far from my job so they recommended Veterans United, that was the best thing that could have happen to my wife and i. The moment we got on board with VU, loan officer Shawnee Holsten told us not to worry Veterans are a priority, after submitting the required documents our loan was approved.
The home took about a 1yr to complete but we started having issues with the builders the last few months before closing, they refused to comply to certain federal requirements that VU needed to release the loan.
My wife and I appreciate Shawnee and her teams experience, their time spent answering our redundant questions and reassuring us that we would get our home which we did. I highly recommend Shawnee for a smooth home purchasing experience, once again thank you Shawnee for those overtime hours you spent helping us. George and Geraldine Clarke

I will tell my friends about how easy it was to contact them all the way up to closing. They made my home buying experience amazing during a global pandemic! Through a retirement, transition to civilian from military, and loss of a grandmother, this was one thing I didn't have to worry about. My daughter and I or very happy in our new home. Thank you VU!

House had mice problems and was never brought up- even when the pest inspector came, nothing was said about mice. I got sick because of it and even now I can’t use the stoves over to cook because I can’t get help lifting it up so I can clean it. For my first house, I expected more, got much less than I was hoping for but am content knowing this is mine and I can make investments to its fullest potential

At first, we were very apprehensive about applying for a refinance with an internet company. After we committed, we soon found out the process was quite easy. All the documents were sent via portal. At closing, the notary came to our house . This was especially helpful during this pandemic.

I’m sure this won’t go on the website or be in a commercial. But I’m going to say it. All the extra fees Veterns United charges you are malarkey. If they had of done their job. Then things would have been right. However I signed the first closing documents thinking everything was correct. But they weren’t. This ended up making my new payment almost $500.00 dollars more than what I was told. Partly because VU did not do their part. I had been paying taxes at the rate of the person that lived at this residence previous to me. Taxes were $9.71 that only happens if you’re 100% disabled. I’m not they new that. So I had to resign new closing documents under duress. I had to sign the documents or would be in legal trouble. The loan officer I had would not return my calls and the other agent I had just happened to be on PTO when the signing was due. So now I’m stuck with twice as much on the initial closing cost which put me 5 years worth of payments behind my original IRRL. I will never use this company again. Their agents are inexperienced and lack the knowledge to get thing’s correct from the start. Not to mention they took another house payment out of my account for the old loan that I will have to wait 30 days at minimum to get back.

Response from Veterans United

Thomas, thank you for sharing this honest review. We apologize that our service did not provide the personalized experience you expected throughout the process. Discussing the details around your final closing figures is part of our commitment to deliver outstanding service. While we do not directly control the majority of these costs like taxes and insurance, we do appreciate your calling attention to this aspect and we value your feedback. With regard to payments being processed, we were able to researched and found automatic payment (ACH) are still active prior to loans being paid in full. The escrow account for those closed loans will be refunded as well. Your comments will help us ensure that we learn from mistakes and improve for the next customer. We value your business and hope you enjoy your new home.
