We are very grateful for Trish Cole! She came in at time where everyone else we had tried had failed us. Therefore, we were really apprehensive about trying another company but once we met Trish she eased our fears. My husband is a retired Army Soldier, who suffers from P.T.S.D. and just about any episode can set him off. However, everything about our home buying process went smoothly. I love the fact that you have a secure portal to place all of your documents in versus putting it in an email. This is what sets Veterans United apart from the rest. Initial contact was met with hubris and a bit of arrogance when asked about capability regarding expedited process. Excusable if it is warranted but we closed two days late and critical milestones I wanted met were not.
I was told by the team as long as I provide responses within 24 hours, my timeline would be met and that also turned out not to be the case.My rate I was given as an estimate was no higher than 5.4%. I understand if I landed in the upper echelon of that, but even an estimate was off as my rate was 5.65%. If their estimates are this wrong and start the process and find out the. u estimates aren’t accurate it’s hard to turn back at that point.I found myself having to essentially check in almost daily to get a response and updates.There was a significant lack of attention to detail. They asked for emails, did not check them and could cost me ~$700+ at closing due to missed email attachments and not being thorough in their process.I would be hard pressed to use VU again whether it’s for my next property or refinancing. When buying a $1M+ home, I expect better. If performed like this at my job, I’d be out on a performance improvement plan. Not sure how service got significantly worse after buying my first home but sure do not plan on sticking around to see if it gets better.The best part about working with VU is that it is now finally over.

Veterans United made the home buying process for us first time home buyers very easy! They helped us with everything along the way, including setting us up with a realtor in the area we were looking in! They stayed on top of everything and made sure that we were prepared for everything along the way! I love how everything can be done online, the to-do list made things so much easier for me, being able to see what still needs to be done and what has been completed in such a user-friendly fashion. I don’t have any other company to compare them to, but we had such a great experience that I’m sure if we ever buy another home, Veteran’s United will have our business again!

The end result was worth the effort with a significant savings in monthly mortgage payment, but holy smokes was this a painful underwriting process. Being a realtor and real estate investor for most of my adult life, I have been through many, many (think- hundreds) mortgage underwriting processes. This was absolutely grueling. That said, the people are wonderful to work with, very helpful and the platform for document sharing / uploading and tracking progress is very intuitive.
