Overall good experience.

This is my second time working with Damien Shafer's Team from Preapproval to Closing and just like the first one, "THEY WORK FAST". We were clear to close within 3 weeks from the acceptance of the offer. There no better team than the VU team to get this done. Secondly, their new concierge service absolute amazing in relieving some of the stress involved in moving. They are 100% always prompt to answer any questions and fast to providing results from Utilities to even temporary housing/hotels during the moving process. Highly Recommended!

Allison was very patient with us and our buying our first and hopefully only home. I questioned many things over the course of the purchase and refinancing. she met my questions head on; pushing back when appropriate. if you got her handling your purchase you are in great hands.

I liked the loan officer, but his loan coordinator caused us to miss our closing date by two days. Also because of this, my wife and I did not find out about our actual closing cost until the actual day of closing, which caused us some stress.This was all caused by our loan coordinator not knowing we had home insurance even though I had bought home insurance 2 weeks before closing. I even worked with a VA United representative about home insurances. I do not know where the disconnect happened. Did not appreciate him telling our realtor that we never bought the insurance and putting blame on us the day before we thought we were going to close.Finally I did not appreciate getting an email from the loan coordinator asking and expecting me to give 10’s on these surveys. Takes away from what the surveys are actually trying to do.As a first time homebuyer they were amazing to have to get my first house, just these last events could not be ignored.


As a first-time homeowner, this was a really stressful process and Veterans United did not make it any easier. It is about the sale for them and my wants and needs were put on the backburner. My experience was filled with miscommunication and complacency. If I had to do it over, I would go with a different company.

I hope your experience are better than my two, instead of having joy on both my closing dates, it was more of day of feeling I don’t have to keep dealing with heart ache. I’ve recommended others in the past, but very on the fence about it in the future. I hope they can do better by fellow active duty service men, women, and veterans.
