Initial contact was met with hubris and a bit of arrogance when asked about capability regarding expedited process. Excusable if it is warranted but we closed two days late and critical milestones I wanted met were not.
I was told by the team as long as I provide responses within 24 hours, my timeline would be met and that also turned out not to be the case.My rate I was given as an estimate was no higher than 5.4%. I understand if I landed in the upper echelon of that, but even an estimate was off as my rate was 5.65%. If their estimates are this wrong and start the process and find out the. u estimates aren’t accurate it’s hard to turn back at that point.I found myself having to essentially check in almost daily to get a response and updates.There was a significant lack of attention to detail. They asked for emails, did not check them and could cost me ~$700+ at closing due to missed email attachments and not being thorough in their process.I would be hard pressed to use VU again whether it’s for my next property or refinancing. When buying a $1M+ home, I expect better. If performed like this at my job, I’d be out on a performance improvement plan. Not sure how service got significantly worse after buying my first home but sure do not plan on sticking around to see if it gets better.The best part about working with VU is that it is now finally over.
As mentioned above in my initial write up - here is my review thank you VU for being such an outstanding company/organization. All realtors love working with you all, and most sellers that never heard of you, loved you once it was all over and deal was over and completed. Hannah Liebhart and her entire team , Lauren Sprague, Emily Gandy, Kole Berry, and others I am sure behind the scene, did an outstanding job again....what a team effort.Precise execution of loan processing, and all upstream and downstream processes. The end result was worth the effort with a significant savings in monthly mortgage payment, but holy smokes was this a painful underwriting process. Being a realtor and real estate investor for most of my adult life, I have been through many, many (think- hundreds) mortgage underwriting processes. This was absolutely grueling. That said, the people are wonderful to work with, very helpful and the platform for document sharing / uploading and tracking progress is very intuitive.
