I honestly should not have gone this route. This entire process seems like it was rushed to the Benefit of everyone else but my family and me. The prior owners did not do a good job cleaning up as they said they would. I have pictures of filthy appliances and 2 carpets that wasn’t even touched. I’m
I’m unable to use the 4th bedroom until the carpet is replaced. The hot water in the master bedroom doesn’t even work properly. We closed on the 30th yet the people didn’t even move out until the 3rd. Which caused my landlord to keep my 2 thousand dollar deposit. The oven was FULL of leftover chemicals and residue that is still cooking all my kids food with a bad taste. I have to put thousands of dollars into getting this place ready for my newborn. My honest opinion is y’all aren’t here for the vets. Ya’ll found a way to profit off of our expense. During my service after every training exercise we did an AAR. After action review where we came up with 3 ups and 3 downs of what went right and what went wrong. I can not give many ups in this situation and it’s going to come down to people like me to actually show the truth so that Ya’ll can improve. I highly doubt this will catch anyone’s attention that is actually willing to do anything and that’s ok because at the end of the day it was My fault. Why? Because 7 - 8 months ago when I first reached out to VU I had a gut feeling telling me to avoid yall. So I did. I told my loan officer they seem like a scam. It wasn’t until I was so desperate to move because of my circumstances that I reached back out to ya’ll. Only good thing I can hope for is you do better for other vets. I’m sure this isn’t the first review of its kind and I guarantee it will not be the last. Looks like I’ll be going down in history as the fastest Foreclosure on a home loan in VU history. Which ultimately must be the end game for the people at the top. Sadly I hate this house and I truly regret doing business. I should have taken my time. Again falls completely on me.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Dustin,
I’m really sorry to hear how overwhelming and frustrating this entire experience has been for you and your family. What you’ve described, especially with the condition of the home, the delayed move-out, and the added financial strain, sounds incredibly stressful, particularly with a newborn to prepare for.
I also hear your concern about feeling rushed and unsupported during the process. That’s not how this should feel, and I’m sorry it left you questioning whether your best interests were being considered. While some of the issues you mentioned, like the home’s condition, appliances, and seller move-out timing, fall outside of the loan process and are typically handled between the buyer, seller, and agents, that doesn’t make the situation any less difficult or the impact any less real.
Your feedback matters, and I take what you shared seriously. I’d really like the chance to connect with you directly, learn more about what happened, and see how we can help provide some clarity or next steps where possible.
If you’re open to it, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday, and if you contact us after hours, we’ll follow up the next business day.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Listen. If you are serious about owning a home, Veterans United is definitely a preferred option, in my opinion. The steps it took to purchasing our home was frustrating to say the least. In my wife and I case, we were purchasing from our landlord, so a realtor wasn't necessary. However, gathering the necessary documents, coordinating with the different agencies like appraisals, home inspections, insurance, title company, and loads of paperwork, signatures, and questions are still very much a part of the process. Our team, Nick Holman, Courtney Gully, Francie Greene, and the rest of their supporting members were there from the first phone until the closing on our home. They fielded every question, listened to all of our frustration, guided us through the whole process step by step, and we're encouraging, patient, professional, and, most of all, very polite, friendly, and engaging whenever we were in contact with them. I mean they kept in touch by phone, text, and email. Even sent us mail. Who does that in this technology age? Seriously, they were the best team my wife and I could ask for in communicating with us and our landlord to make this dream a reality!! I highly recommend Veterans United to anyone who’s reading this review, or anyone who asks is this company for real. To our team, Nick Holman, Courney Gully, Francie Greene, and their supporting team members, thank you for everything! We can't say thank you enough. My wife, Valencia Long, and I now own our home!!!
The VA helped pulled me out of a close call with a loan interest of 6.9% on just two weeks two weeks before closing with a different lender...WoW!! Amazing recovery and rescue!! Thank you to my VA Team!! Becky, Matt, Jenowski, Megan and all their associates!! God bless you all...!!

We recently closed on our new condo and couldn’t be happier with the experience thanks to Cole and his team. They were incredibly responsive and moved quickly to get our loan closed on time. Cole is genuine and easy to work with, he made what can be a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward. We had many questions throughout the process, and they were always patient, transparent, and gave us honest and clear answers every single time.Their online portal is easy to use. We were able to upload everything securely without any issues. Would definitely recommend Cole and Veterans United to all my friends and family!
What can I say other than how impressed I was and am with how your whole team basically took me by the hand in a process as nerve wracking as this and leading me through it all step by step to a very satisfying end. You have my thanks and gratitude. If it were possible I would recommend Arron for a promotion. He truly deserves it.
Holly, Marina, and the entire team assisted me with the most outstanding professionalism and kindness. They made my home buying process run smoothly from start to finish.
