Veterans United made my home buying experience more stressful than it should have been. Many extra documents, requirements, and fees popped up in the last week of closing. I was required to make repairs to the house outside of my negotiation period and only a few days before closing. I had to have a second credit check because mine “expired.” My locked-in interest rate also “expired” and a fee was required to extend it (this fee was eventually waved after my complaint). My cash-to-close estimate jumped up by $1200 two days before closing due to a clerical error. No one called to inform me of the change. I was simply sent a document to sign through an automated system. I do not feel my loan team did a good job of handling these matters.

It’s super easy, start reading about the documents you need and create a folder on your computer so that you can just send them over. As long as you have what you need the team will do the rest. Be honest, it’s important, your team wants you to get the loan trust me. Don’t drag your feet, if they ask for something get it back quickly, they are very accomadating so don’t sweat if you don’t have state of the art because I didn’t. Have patience and don’t apply for new credit until you close and your loan is funded.

I had my reservations when I got started on this whole adventure. I had never bought a house before and I barely made enough for what my wife and I needed for our family, but Matt's team, and realtor, at Veteran's United really went to bat for us. By the time it was all said and done, we had a house I didn't think I would have been able to afford, in the right area, with all the things I wanted in a house, and all this despite a sudden spike in interest rates, which Matt was also able to shield us from. VA Home loans is great to work with. The title company (Mortgage Connect, LP) however was a nightmare. If I had to only work with Mortgage connect, I would run in the other direction. They are unresponsive and unreliable. Thank god, Caleb with Veterans United was on his game and held them accountable. Plus he sent a welcome home package after everything was recorded. Again, Veterans United, amazing. Mortgage Connect, awful.
