The underwriting department made closing on the home very difficult. I understand that it was the end of the month and a holiday weekend but I feel that they dropped the ball in a few ways. Firstly, we were trying to close on Friday May 24th. Until the day before neither the title lawyer overseeing the closing or I heard any contradiction to this closing date. However, the day before, Thursday the 23rd, Will gives me a call saying the paperwork I provided about my ReEnlistment eligibility was not going to be accepted by the underwriter. I submitted all the paperwork requested by the underwriter May 15th, why the day before we were scheduled to close I am just receiving notification that the document that I submitted was not going to be adequate? Will Lewis stated that he was working with the underwriter and they ended up calling the VA Regional office and ensured that the document that I submitted was indeed sufficient. I was informed that it may take a little finagling but we might still be able to close the following day, on schudel. Now on Friday, all of a sudden the underwriter overseeing the loan is not in the office. With NO notification to the lawyer or myself. So essentially we were dead in the water until the underwriter returned on Tuesday. Come Tuesday the lawyer contacted the underwriter and they wanted to wait until Wednesday to close. The lawyer had to really put his foot down and tell the underwriting department there is no way that we will be able to close on Wednesday. Being a short sale, Wednesday was the final contract day and the deal would have been dead. The underwriting department was able to get everything done and we were able to close on Tuesday. The lawyer also notified the underwriting department that he submitted the HUD to the bank, the underwriting department did not communicate this to my loan officer so there was also some confusion there as well.
I MISSED THE BLOCK FOR SO PLEASE USE THIS SURVEY DO NOT USE THE FIRST ONE SENT.As for Billy Townsend and his co-partner I would definitely make sure the receive classes on VA requirements from the VA hand book. My closing was supposed to be May 15, however due to Townsend and Hecks blunder with the well test it was postpone to later date. I had everything worked out for the move, last minute change I had to reschedule the U-Haul, pay additional monies to extend my apartment. Now I cannot move in until I come out of the field June 22. Townsend and Heck even made a comment they have closed several VA homes and was not aware a 3rd party had to do the well test. Billy and Heck collected the water from the kitchen. Also contract Billy wrote up stated electric will not be turned off until closing, electric was turned off May 16, and I closed on the 19th. Billy stated he did not know what day electric was to be turned off. Billy wrote the contract, go figure. You would think after the well status Billy would be on time for closing day 4pm, he arrived 4:37pm. Billy did not even call he would be late until 4:07pm. Therefore he even called late. Billy told me time for closing was 4pm. Give Classes on the handling for VA home loans, developed penalties to those who break the rules, not knowing is not an excuse. Especially the length of time both Billy and heck have been a realtor.
The main issue we had was the appraiser that was ordered, so my only recommend
As for Billy Townsend and his co-partner (Heck) that works in ths same building together. I would definitly make sure the recieve classes on VA requirements from the VA hand book. Make sure all realitors know the requirements and have the knowledge what is in the VA hand book.
Maybe regional offices, sometimes getting hold of a person was hard for me.
They need to request all the information they need up front as opposed to going back and asking for more and more things later on. Underwriting needs to be more involved throughout the entire process.
