Jake was great to work with and very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a VA loan.

I had a good experience with them the last time I used them and trusted them to handle everything correctly. This time I was a little disappointed though whenever I had mentioned wanting to put a down payment on my home to save myself some money with the high interest rates and lower my payments and they mentioned I would just pay at closing like no further action was needed at the time when I brought it up..Well 2 days prior to closing however I asked this question again and my loan officer freaked out a little bit and said we’d have to go back into underwriting. It would have been better if they clarified this with me when I went under underwriting initially considering I communicated this with them beforehand in writing..Additionally when talking to other veterans who have used a different VA loan service, Veterans United asked me for some strange things in comparison to what other Servicemembers I spoke with were asked for. The first time I bought they asked me for 12 months of bills from three different companies which was difficult to special request this far back on three different companies. This time they asked me to make a statement that I would essentially stay in the military until retirement which I thought was very strange. I would not want to refer any friends especially those not sure if they will serve their entire maximum commitment only to have their loan rejected for not making a statement that would have such major implications for the rest of their life or career. Some people need to leave before retirement to handle family issues or for medical or general reasons. All this to say, the service was okay but after feeling like I got screwed on the down payment I don’t think I would recommend it and will probably refinance with a different company when rates improve because in just one year this makes the difference of 20K dollars in just one year when considering equity and interest that I could have saved so I would have appreciated it if the team hadn’t made any assumptions about my circumstances or ignored my previous requests… I didn’t make a stink about it because I didn’t want everyone else in the deal to get screwed and wanted us to close on time but I should have.
Response from Veterans United
Hello Ashlyn, thank you for taking the time to share this information with our team. We understand how important it is to feel valued as a customer and were thrilled that your initial experience was such a good one. Your recent experience however, does not fit our intention of providing personable and attentive service to everyone we serve. It is imperative that we look into your comments further as a potential training opportunity. The mortgage process can certainly feel intrusive, but we want to reassure you that this in-depth analysis is a worthwhile step. The underwriting process serves to protect the integrity of our industry and families who might otherwise fall into a financial hardship. We value your thoughts on improving our process. Our Client Advocate team would love to talk more with you about your experience so that we may take steps to improve wherever possible for future clients.

The only change I would make is a bit more clarity and communication with closing, but down options and money needed to be taken to closing from me. Was cleared up quickly when asked but would have liked a more transparent process.

The whole experience was extremely well handled so that everything went as smoothly as it could have. Thanks to all of veterans United for making our experience a outstanding one.

The team from realtor, loan team, underwriter, and concierge are invested in the buyers experience not just getting the job done. Everyone had our best interest at heart. A kind and courteous team with a wealth of knowledge.

I just want to thank Billy and his team again for a job well done, they are life savers.

Without VU I would of been lost. The entire team was wonderful. My realtor said they were rockstars to work with. I know now why you all come highly recommended.

We had an amazing team, that helped us through every aspect, of our new home buying process. We highly recommend Veterans United.

Chnged loan processors 3 times in month. Didn't hinder the process but seems every Monday there was a new name

Evan was awesome! Worked with us the entire time and would check in often. One of the things I appreciated most was Evan called our seller's listing agent and explain how the VA loans worked to help close the deal. Even on a Sunday, Evan went out of his way on his day off to ensure we were set for a revised offer!

Veterans united made sure the loan and closing dates happened when they should. They walked me through every step of the process and if i had any questions they helped me out.

If your a Veteran and you don’t use Veterans United your crazy. If you qualify for a loan they will walk you through the process and if you do not, they will walk you step by step what you need to do to qualify.

Thank you all you all made the process so easy and was very helpful

From start to finish it was overall a smooth process. It’s always great working with a fellow veteran (Alec) in an aspect. Thank you!

When my wife and i reached out to Veterans United we were already mislead by one lender who said they work with veterans all the tome. They could not figure out the VA home loan process and essentially told me to put it together and call them back. I was severely disgruntled and disheartened. I had heard of Veterans United and decided to reach out, we had nothing to loose at that point. We then received a phone call from Derek. Derek handled everything and was straight forward and completely honest with us. He is very knowledgeable and knows the VA home buying process very thoroughly. He helped us fix any issues we had, was very patient, and jumped right back in at full speed once we met contingencies. My wife and i went from thinking we will be long term renters, to now being homeowners. Derek has definitely willed a way for us, and kept our spirits up. We can not thank you all enough, and plan on recommending Derek to anyone looking for a VA Home loan. Thank you so much!

We will definitely be working together in the future for any new home loans, refis, etc. Thanks for making the process as streamlined as possible and communicated with us every step of the way!
